I am honestly shocked that you know this. Is this a normal thing for people to remember? I have absolutely no idea when I began reading, I'd guess in kindergarten or first grade? No clue about books either.

My handwriting is a mix of cursive and print. Most people I know actually have a mishmash of the two when writing quickly. Except my brother, who oddly writes all in block letters.

I have no idea if it's normal or not, but I feel a bit self-conscious that so many people remember and I don't. Oops?

And I can write in cursive (...not necessarily well, but I can) but tend to not because printing is both faster and easier for me to read. But cursive is kind of gorgeous and I'm envious of people who are proficient at it.

Maybe it's an age thing? I have no idea how old you are, but for my age group we had to write all of our essays etc in cursive starting in 4th grade. It wasn't until high school that computers were an option, and even then it was still acceptable to hand in your assignments hand written if it was in neat cursive.

We did write in cursive, but by the time I got to high school cursive wasn't common and most teachers preferred print anyway. Don't know if we were all terrible at it or if it was a personal preference or what.

We did the computer thing, too. Which has always been preferable to me over handwriting, though I don't hate it.

There are so many "when did you start..." things that I have no idea about. When I ask my parents my mother will just say something like "Oh I don't know, within the 'normal' range." Small downside of a big family I suppose!

My mom does that too, but we're not a large family (not by a long shot). Haha. At least you know you'll never be alone in this because of all your siblings.

I actually don't remember the moment I started reading, I've just been told. As far as my memory goes I've always been able to read (so even if my mother lied for some reason, I was definitely reading by five.
