It's sad that people are happy over a 13 year old dying in his mother's arms

(Anonymous) 2014-04-20 10:18 pm (UTC)(link)
Eh. In a situation where said kid is a selfish, crazy, sadistic murderer who will undoubtedly continue to worsen as his power grows, it's understandable that people should rejoice that his reign of terror is ended - and that he received justice for his willfully evil acts. (Also, in the show he's closer to 17.)

Nope. He ordered a guy's beheading, killed a prostitute, humiliated and abused a 13 year old girl, killed a prostitute and did a bunch of other nasty stuff. Did I meantion that he killed a prostitute?

Don't worry though, at least the queen of love and compassion is still alive and kicking.

Killing Ros was a good thing.

Please tell me you're just mad because she wasn't in the books.

(Anonymous) 2014-04-20 11:17 pm (UTC)(link)
No, she was just an awful character and a symbol of the producers' contempt for their audience. She added nothing to the show besides additional gratuitous nudity.

(Anonymous) 2014-04-20 11:47 pm (UTC)(link)
Her scene with Littlefinger showed how much the Baratheon bastard killing affected the prostitutes and how sad their lives really are under a ruthless pimp.

(Anonymous) 2014-04-21 12:26 am (UTC)(link)
They needed her to show that?

(Anonymous) 2014-04-20 10:24 pm (UTC)(link)
Never bought the 13 year old thing. Then again in those books everyone acts way older than their age. Glad the show adjusted that...

(Anonymous) 2014-04-20 11:55 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, book-Rickon always had me going WTF?

(Anonymous) 2014-04-21 08:56 pm (UTC)(link)
how so?

(Anonymous) 2014-04-20 10:47 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, this. :-/ He's a fictional character and all, and one of GRRM's basic moustache twirling bad guys. But the fact that he's a kid? Sorry, I can't find it in me to get sadistic over his death.

(Anonymous) 2014-04-20 11:00 pm (UTC)(link)
I can kind of understand this, but at the same time...

If someone who just happens to be a kid does absolutely terrible things, feels no remorse, and then just keeps right on doing terrible things, then I'm not going to feel too bad if he or she dies. Kids aren't totally incapable of understanding right from wrong.

I think it's sad if a child dies in his mother's arms. And then I think about Ned Stark getting beheaded on the whim of that 13 year old, and how that 13 year old enjoyed showing Sansa her father's head, and the head of her nurse maid, and how he planned on serving her brother's head to her at their wedding feast.

And then, you know, I don't feel half as sad for him as I did for Sansa, for Arya, for Cat and Robb, and for Ned.

And when I think about how he tied a woman up and shot her full of arrows for shits and giggles, I even feel a little bit glad

So hop off that fucking high horse before you crack its spine.

Two wrongs don't make a right

(Anonymous) 2014-04-21 06:08 pm (UTC)(link)
It's quite easy to find joy in things that are not right, you know.

(Anonymous) 2014-04-21 09:09 pm (UTC)(link)
When the second wrong is the one that takes an abusive, sadistic psychopath off the playing field in a way that minimizes the number of casualties as much as is humanly possible to do, then yes. Two wrongs absolutely make a right.

When said thirteen year old is as detestable as Joffrey, it's reason to celebrate.
