everyone in Game of Thrones does morally repugnant shit, or dies, or both. the nature of the world and the series is that people are forced to do morally wrong things. tyrion does morally wrong things; he is also probably one of the better people in the series from a moral point of view.

and, you know, he's also an incredibly funny, smart, sarcastic asshole who is also obviously capable of empathy. no i have no idea why fandom would like him

"everyone" Yeah, except well, except Sansa and Shireen. Then again, they're both virtual prisoners (to some degree) with limited agency.

Tyrion's scenes are one of the few things I look forward to.

What about Brienne?

This is true!

Although I can't see them eventually taking agency without ending doing some things that are, at best, morally questionable. Having power and doing morally questionable things go together inevitably in GRRMland. However, probably less morally questionable things than other people have done, because they have empathy (which Tyrion has also to some extent and Jaime is developing and etc etc etc)

Brienne and Davos though?

Yes, though to me they're closer to Tyrion on the moral grey scale: they've killed people in self-defense or "for good causes," whereas as far as I can remember neither Sansa nor Shireen have.
