The more I read about this show the more I start to think it's the 21st century equivalent of Rob Liefeld and a decade from now people will be embarrassed to admit they ever liked it.

He was one of the guys who popularized the grim-'n'-gritty trend that dominated superhero comics in the 90s.

heh, thank you for putting into words why i'm hesitant to get into this series

i'm just so over "dark and edgy" stuff

like, idk man, stuff can tackle serious themes without the writer throwing dead babies around the room while skipping through pools of blood
