And doing this to Maleficent, of all Disney villains.

To me, it would make sense if they went that route with Ursula; if they went back and made her Triton's sister like she was originally supposed to be. Because then it would be all about how Ursula was just trying to take what she believed to be rightfully hers after being banished (possibly unfairly) by her brother.

Not saying I'd want it, just that I could see it making sense in that case rather than with Maleficent.

Ursula would make more sense, IA.

Heck, I think almost any villain would make more sense than Maleficent. She's a fae, getting petty over not being invited to a party makes perfect sense.

Turning her into a woman scorned with a hidden heart of gold, while shitting over the good fairies, is stupid.
