I'm mostly the same (if something grabs me, then it just grabs me).
If the show/book series already finished, it's less of a problem for me (since I can spoil myself for everything if I want to and still enjoy it)...but if it's ongoing... urgh. The pain of reading Naruto now... but atleast it seems to come near the end now (no matter how it ends, it's gotten so terrible, it won't redeem myself for me anymore, but I want to know HOW it ends, so...).
Now, Detective Conan on the other hand... I gave up. I can't take random case #59281948 anymore.

And I think no TV show should go over 7 seasons without a really good reason.
