Thank you, omg. This is basically how I feel. I can't say that literally all romance movies are bad ever because I really like "My Big Fat Greek Wedding," but almost all the other ones I've seen have made me mad in some way.

My Big Fat Greek Wedding is, I think, way more about the main character's character development and her family, and the romance is kind of icing. You might like Saving Face with Joan Chen, OP. It's demi-romance (there are two in the movie) but it doesn't conform to tired gender roles and stereotypes and it's really more about the relationship between the mother and the daughter rather than the relationship between the daughter and her girlfriend or the relationship between the mother and the mother's romantic option.

Just to clarify, I'm not trying to do that thing where somebody tells you they don't like Breaking Bad and you say, "Well, you haven't seen Cat's In the Bag!" I just thought you might like it given the other thing you like. I always worry I come off as pushy in comments. :)
