If you do want to recommend it, (and I'm all for recommending awesome comics to people's daughters!), maybe also recommend stuff that you think she'd like aside from Ms. Marvel as well? Then it's not a race thing, but just general recs for their kid.

Something like "hey, coworker, I know you have a daughter, and I think she'd like these books" and then give a list of things. Personally, I'd give Ms. Marvel, Princeless and Batman: Li'l Gotham as recs for kids/young teens.
