I kind of want to view the first season of Elementary as a show in itself. Everything that happened afterwards was a nightmare I want to forget.

But I can't, because my hangups about authorial intent are the size of California.

what did you hate about it? Was it just the Irene Adler twist?

I see I have earned myself a reputation as an Irene/Moriarty hater :D

That, and everything to do with Mycroft.

Tbh it wasn't just the fact that Moriarty came back. It was also the show's subsequent treatment of the event. Sherlock's passive-obsessive relationship with Moriarty is the single worst plotline ever.
