I joined a book club and I've generally liked the books. But the other people in the book club always want to complain about how awful kids these days are, how they're stupid and annoying and don't care about the right things, and I hate it. When I try to stand up for my younger friends, they just talk over me :(

That's the sort of thing I'm talking about. Some people in my group get to derail discussion or make it about certain topics, but when I do the same thing, I get interrupted or made fun of for being ranty. If people aren't going to respect your point of view, why stick around?
