I know what you mean. It took me such a long time to get the allegory that *duh* Aslan is Jesus! There is no huge lion helping people and generally being a badass in our world.

It took me another year or two and then I was like "OHHHHHHHHHH okay, I get it now, cool." I found out he was a well-regarded author of other Christian books, fictional and otherwise, and then it dawned on me.
