It's made a ton of money everywhere. The most recent example is in Japan. The gross there is around eight million or so. Normally box office hits only make one or two million, or stay in the high hundred thousands, even if it's a staple franchise like Doraemon. That's been released almost as long as Frozen, but the numbers say it's made about 500,000. For extra comparison, the second movie on the rankings (Winter Soldier) has hit about 1.9 million.

And if you need anecdotal evidence that it's popular, the people at the table behind me just immediately exclaimed "oh, you haven't watched Frozen yet, have you?" and said they had it on their phone so they could watch right now.

*gross per weekend. I checked the gross to date in Japan for Doraemon and Frozen and Doraemon stands at 33 million. Frozen is 100 million.
