I guess in that sort of line, my tendency to assign elemental affinities. It's Vagrant Story's fault, really - which is why mine is a six-element system, and characters' affinities can be plotted more or less by a point on 3 axes, which show their affinity for Fire vs. Water, Earth vs. Air, and Dark vs. Light.

...So I have these little 3D maps in my head for characters, basically. Which serve no purpose OUTSIDE of Vagrant Story fandom (and then only because I've incorporated that elemental affinity concept into my ficverse...) but they're STILL THERE.

Also there are some characters who will NOT let me write in past tense. For some reason anything they give me is in present tense, and I know some people find fic in present tense annoying, but they WILL NOT allow me to write their perspective in past tense. (Lookin' at you, Kurusu Masaki and Vera Misham.)

Is the map of Vagrant Story related to their elemental affinity?
pantswarrior: The characters of Vagrant Story don't understand pants. (vs)

Eh, no, it's not like actual area maps - more like a set of coordinates plotted out in a 3D cube.

...Although in a sense you could say that the area map of Vagrant Story is very, very much related to characters' elemental affinities, seeing as the entirety of the game takes place in a city that's basically an elemental focal point flooded with that element, and everyone's fighting over who gets to control it. And my take on it is that those with elemental affinities towards the Dark will be able to tolerate the Dark better... but also if they're too attuned to it, it would be easier for the Dark to subtly begin to control them instead of vice versa.

So in canon where there isn't this elemental war sort of thing going on, it makes no sense. :P It's kind of like horoscopes for me though - something I just sort of wind up figuring out for all the characters even though it doesn't serve any purpose.
