oh man, I fucking LOVE Chris/Derek. back in season one, I thought it would become at least reasonably popular because of the animosity between the Hales and Argents (fandom usually loves that shit) and was kind of disappointed when nothing really happened. and then I REALLY thought it would become popular after some of their scenes together in season 3 (and the fact that they could bond over the family they both lost) but while there was an increase in fic, it's still pretty rare.

but then again, I thought Scott/Derek would be the juggernaut pairing in fandom when the show first premiered and I was completely wrong about that too, so I'm probably just really bad about predicting teen wolf fandom trends in general.

Arrrghh, me too, anon! It's genuinely one of the richest and most interesting universes I can think of, with TONS of potential backstory to be explored, and yet I've never been able to get into the fandom because it's all shipping (and all ships I don't care about).

I've never understood why authors don't just HAVE creative control. Why isn't that the industry standard? Why should it have to depend on clout? Why don't authors band together and demand it? Wouldn't publishing companies that give it attract more authors than those who deny it?

It just doesn't make any sense at all.

I feel like most people here hate some, if not all, fandom terminology. Or, like, specifically fandom terminology that came into existence in the last 3 to 5 years, I guess.

It's kind of a bummer tbh. I mean it's not like I can stop you from being annoyed by what you're annoyed by, but there's definitely a get-off-my-lawn vibe with regards to this stuff in the comm.
