"Don't you know? Female characters ALWAYS have to be pretty.
Always.
No expections.
None.
Nada.
Niente.
Male characters? They can have big noses, large chins, small eyes, and even have diverse body types. But a female character not looking conventually attractive and/or having unquie features?
OH GOD SOMEONE CALL 911 ABORT ABORT WE DIDN'T PLAN FOR THIS"

-seems to be the mindset of most character designers at Disney and Pixar.
I mean I love you guys and all, but coooome on.

All of those male characters but one are conventionally attractive.

I think that's kind of the point though, thick, slender, small nose, big nose, they fall under "conventionally attractive" even though there's a large amount of variation. But for the female characters to be "conventionally attractive" they have to be recolors of each other. That somehow, shocker, people are a lot more tolerant of male appearance variation than female.

But if you look at actual conventionally attractive actresses, they don't all look alike. Even within "conventionally attractive," it's easily possible to create a great degree of variation in female character looks.

It's just not how it's done though.
