I'm hesitant to call it women acting like men because that's a whole complicated mess of "well that's the way it's perceived by society so I might as well use those terms but then there are people who think some traits are inherent to a gender binary and I don't want to associate myself with them" but I agree that there needs to be more variety and I put a lot of the blame for that lack of variety on a disdain for things that are considered feminine.

I don't like the phrase "women acting like men" because it implies that women being physically badass aren't acting like women. Which they are. Because they're women.

*rereads your comment* actually, I think you and I are saying the same thing. Also I 100% agree with your second part. I love me some physically badass characters (not just female ones), but I love variety too and the regocnition that multi-dimensional human beings with physical, emotional, mental, spiritual, etc. strengths and weaknesses and infinite variety, just like men.
