I haven't seen the show, but: Bryan Fuller is at the helm. It sounds pretty close to the style of his other work, but a lot darker. You are NOT going to have an L & O with Bryan Fuller. I think people are pretty okay with that.

Yeah, if it was a different showrunner, it might be more traditional procedural, but as long as Bryan Fuller is running it, it's not going to be that way. The man actively thinks outside of the box in every production he works on.
