I can see where you're coming from. I think the comments above bring up a good point about the females being related while the males are not. Also, you're comparing two Disney princess movies to each other. If Disney princess movies don't look similar and follow a formula, they don't do as well. As far as I know, Tangled did much better than other recent princess films so it makes sense for Disney to try and make that same magic happen again. I think if you included the females from other CGI Disney movies such as Franny from Meet the Robinsons, you'd see more variation.
