He was more than just 'a crappy guy'. He was an evil little toad who delighted in torturing other people for his own amusement, physically and mentally. Even his father and grandfather were glad to see the back of him, because they knew he'd end up worse than the Mad King.

He started a war through being vindictive. He has people killed for minor infractions. He tormented his little brother cruelly. He killed and cut up animals for shits and giggles. He was vicious and callous to his would-be wife. He lied about a fairly minor incident because he wanted blood and revenge. He was a brat king with a lot of power and no sense and even his mother knew he was a monster.

His death was unpleasant. It wasn't brave, it wasn't noble, it wasn't pretty. He went wheezing and choking gracelessly in his mother's arms.

It was fitting for him.

While I hated him and was eagerly awaiting his death, I felt the same tbh. I felt a bit bad for bith Cersei and Jaime because they watched and held their kid as he died that way. Plus, I'm gonna miss Jack Gleeson. So many conflicting feelings.

Yeah, I agree. Even in fictional settings, I am just not a sadist. I don't like seeing even the worst characters suffering, scared and dying. I just don't enjoy that. Especially considering Joffrey was a kid, it made me uncomfortable to watch.

IIIII agree with the first part. His death was really disturbing, and the showrunners intended it to be that way. I'm not sorry he's dead, but... he was a kid. A vile, repulsive excuse for a kid, and it doesn't make his actions even remotely less reprehensible, but he was a kid, and that was an awful way to go. It does make me a little uncomfortable to see people shrieking with glee over his death.

Second part? No. Not even a little. Being happy about a fictional character's death doesn't make you a bad person, and it especially doesn't make you as bad as him. Especially when the character is Joffrey.

I did actually end up feeling sorry for him the books the more we got from him from Cersei's POV. He's 13, he's clearly a sociopath, and he had an abusive father and a mother who overcompensated because of it -- and THEN he gets thrown into a position of ABSOLUTE authority. It's no wonder he went crazy.

I guess I only have sympathy for him in the books, because he's thirteen and needed mental care, whereas there are so many grown ass men doing even worse things trotting around.
