Hilarious, yes. But hypocritical how?

(Anonymous) 2014-05-05 11:14 pm (UTC)(link)
Fandom in general is guilty of pretty much everything they complain bronies do.

(Anonymous) 2014-05-05 11:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Like drawing porn of animated ponies?

(Anonymous) 2014-05-05 11:21 pm (UTC)(link)
da

Like sexualizing everything, including things that were never meant to be sexual in canon.

(Anonymous) 2014-05-05 11:23 pm (UTC)(link)
Replace cartoon horses with incestous lesbians or underage magical bestiality and you 're getting there.

(Anonymous) 2014-05-05 11:27 pm (UTC)(link)
DA

I feel like I should get the underage magical bestiality, but I don't, so can you explain what that one is?

(Anonymous) 2014-05-05 11:28 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, it's got to be Teen Wolf.

(Anonymous) 2014-05-05 11:31 pm (UTC)(link)
AYRT

That's what I thought, but wasn't sure if it was something more obscure or different, since I don't watch Teen Wolf.

(Anonymous) 2014-05-05 11:36 pm (UTC)(link)
I was going for Pokémon, but Teen Wolf works too!

(Anonymous) 2014-05-06 12:29 am (UTC)(link)
Oh god, Pokemon was my first run in with Rule 34 way back at the tail end of the 90's. Sexualizing cartoon horses of indeterminate ages is one thing, but Pokemon is a whole nother arena with human characters who have their actual ages stated (usually really underage with most of the main characters ranging between like 10 to 16), regularly depicted or written about fucking creatures of dubious mental capacity. Pokemon sentience is kind of up in the air depending on whether you're talking about the games, anime, or comics, but it's really hard to make sex with a pikachu look like anything other than bestiality.

Like making/wanking off to porn of kids shows.

It is hilariously hypocritical.

(Anonymous) 2014-05-05 11:54 pm (UTC)(link)
Do fandom people in general also tend to declare that everyone of a particular gender who likes their show should GTFO because the show "wasn't made for them?" Do fandom people in general latch onto kids' shows and then say that they're the true demographic, not the kids, and that they should be pandered to over the kids?

(Anonymous) 2014-05-05 11:58 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah and yeah.

Or take a gender neutral thing and make it about them.

(Anonymous) 2014-05-06 12:00 am (UTC)(link)
Or ~true~ fan crap.

Fandom in general are shitty and go out of their way to outnerd filthy casuals.

(Anonymous) 2014-05-06 12:03 am (UTC)(link)
LOL! Seriously! This kind of stuff predated bronies.

lol isn't saying they should GTFO because the show isn't for them... kind of exactly what you're doing right now?

(Anonymous) 2014-05-06 02:01 pm (UTC)(link)
...no?

I mean, is it not possible or permissible to criticize a group of fans?

(Anonymous) 2014-05-06 01:41 am (UTC)(link)
Welcome to the Transformers fandom, or Avatar, or Danny Phantom, or hell, you pretty much just described the Pokemon fandom to a T.

Especially the Pokemon fandom, the older fans are rife with that sort of entitled, "the game needs to cater solely to the high end tournament play, fuck all that 40 hours of kiddie shit we gotta suffer through to get to the high end stuff where we obsessively plan out stats and moves to exacting mathematical detail".

(Anonymous) 2014-05-06 01:57 am (UTC)(link)
Um... yes. Duh.

Also, most bronies don't say anything of the sort, and you probably know that. The usual phrasing is something like "I love a show that's aimed at little girls, and I'm not ashamed of it."

At which point all the gender enforcers, like you, swoop in and hiss "WELL YOU SHOULD BE."

We don't try to victim blame a pre-teen being stalked by an adult brony.

We don't send rape threats to minors, either.

(Anonymous) 2014-05-06 12:30 am (UTC)(link)
As disgusting as that is, how is that exclusive bronies, though?

I know this shit has happened at anime conventions and unfortunately, I'm sure it's happened at other fandom gatherings.

(Anonymous) 2014-05-06 12:35 am (UTC)(link)
Depending on what fandom your, in, if it's any of the larger ones, I can guaran-damn-tee there have been incidences with underage harassment. The first anime con I ever went to in 2002, there was a creeper dragged out in cuffs after getting caught in his hotel room trying to entice a 14 year old into something sexual. I have, over the years, seen 20+ year old men and women harrassing teenagers and tweens when it comes to sexy cosplay, or trying to get them to pose for picture.

Death threats are even more common, and live journal was famous for pulling that shit on young kids long before bronies or Tumblr ever came around.

(Anonymous) 2014-05-06 02:42 am (UTC)(link)
I have to imagine those who think this type of behavior is new just haven't been in fandom very long. Either that or they've been really lucky.

(Anonymous) 2014-05-06 10:42 am (UTC)(link)
Or they are the bullies in their usual fandom and don't see it there in the way that fish don't see water.

(Anonymous) 2014-05-06 12:41 am (UTC)(link)
You are being so weird, acting like very individual people somehow represent the fandom.

And that any large fandom hasn't had creepers to the point of criminals.

I just don't get how you think you're making a point when you're literally comparing fandoms as though they were individual people. And why you think such things have most certainly not happened in your fandom, heaven forbid.
