Tonight's theme!

(Anonymous) 2014-05-11 07:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Things have been ruined for me!

Re: Tonight's theme! PACIFIC RIM

(Anonymous) 2014-05-11 08:05 pm (UTC)(link)
I refused to go see Pacific Rim because someone I completely abhor got obsessed with it. I was afraid that he would come stalk* me again if I liked the movie enough to write fics for it, so I avoid it like the plague and I'm not sorry to tell people why.

*I have to watch for him and get ready to block whenever I join a new forum or site because he will join too just to try and keep contacting me. I seriously intend to carry pepper spray if I go to a con where he'll be because he is that obsessive. He doesn't take NO for an answer and the only way to stop having inboxes full of messages is to block him. Of course he'll bother people on the site to contact me for him and I have to warn them about him and explain. It gets so old so fast. What a creep.

Have you filed a restraining order?

Re: Tonight's theme! PACIFIC RIM

(Anonymous) 2014-05-12 04:51 am (UTC)(link)
Unfortunately, this has all occurred online only. I have yet to go to a con where he will be. I still intend to carry pepper spray if I do get lucky enough to go to the same con he likes to go to. (I'm not going to skip a chance to meet actors and buy new merch because of one dillhole!)

Also, not sure what the cops can do since I'm able to block him from contacting me online. I don't even respond, I hit block once I recognize his rambling style of typing.

Matters would be much different were he bothering me like this IRL. I don't feel physically threatened by his actions online. I roll my eyes, block and move on until he turns up again like cancer that won't stay in remission.

What the fuck? That guy is seriously creepy! D:

Are you using the same email/username/icon on sites? Maybe you could try changing it and starting again.

I would definitely be buying pepper spray. And also exploring if what he's doing is illegal/constitutes stalking and harassment.

Thanks a lot fandom (and the creators to an extent). :( I doubt I'll ever be able to enjoy the show again.

I can definitely see how the fandom would (jesus christ is it toxic), but what did the creators do?

I've managed to get to the point where I no longer see the awful shit bronies do. Just the episodes and occasionally cute fanart.

Edit: I hadn't watched much of the fourth season up til now but just marathoned most of it today. All I'm saying is, a show with the line, "Pinkie, stop rapping! That isn't helping!" can't be all bad.

Well, a lot of the assholes are jumping ship because of the s4 finale being too 'girly' and 'dbzactiony', because they thought it was a moe slice of life show for adult men, lolz

Any big movie ever

Thanks tumblr (and my lack of self-restraint)

In the sense of spoilers or social issues within/concerning the movies?

Re: Tonight's theme!

(Anonymous) 2014-05-11 08:20 pm (UTC)(link)
Social issues. For instance, Laverne Cox. I didn't really have any issues about her either way (I don't watch OITNB), but I thought she was quite pretty. And then the Time's Magazine thing happened. So, I had to block her name. The only consolation is that for social issues, tumblrs attention span lasts about a week (so she is now unblacklisted). Oddly enough their fandom interests last forever.

Sherlock and Elementary. In the beginning, I thought Elementary would be a nice Holmesian show with none of Sherlock's sexism, racism, and smugness.

But at this point I think they are both pretty bad, the plots make no sense, the character dynamics make no sense, and the two Irene&Moriarty duos may just be the absolute worst Holmesian characters ever created. Including Tom Baker's and Matt Frewer's portrayals of Holmes.

Re: Tonight's theme!

(Anonymous) 2014-05-11 09:14 pm (UTC)(link)
I reluctantly like Elementary because of Joan. The only reason why I still claim it's as bad as Sherlock is because of what they did to Holmes. Did they even read the Canon or did they just assume House had gotten it right?
I don't mind Irene / Moriarty though, but only because I love Dormer.

The series All Creatures Great And Small, ruined for me when I noticed just how much driving under the influence went on in it. I guess it is period accurate, but still.

Well, to be fair those cars went a lot more slowly than modern ones and the roads were nowhere near as busy, but yeah.

Frozen. I've been over saturated with it and I haven't even seen the movie. Will wait a year or so to try and distance myself from the hype I think.

Yeah, just let it go. Turn away and slam the door on it.

MCU Steve/Tony fandom.

Mostly due to the fics - they were getting increasingly tropey and recycling the same terrible characterization over and over again, and often even the same plots. The Stony fans' Pepper-bashing in the wake of Iron Man 3 was the final straw for me.

Maleficent. That new Disney film with Angelina Jolie.

It's not even out yet and there's gifs of it all over tumblr, with people creaming themselves over how TOTAlLY AWESOME it is, and I am already sick of it.

Same with Frozen.

Re: Tonight's theme!

I hear the acting in Maleficient is pretty flat.

I wouldn't watch that movie because Jolie is a homewrecking slut.
