They should be. I can barely believe Winter Soldier is the same person in the “I knew him” scene. He pulls out the eyes of infinite sadness and everything changes.

... But I had forgotten about that part, why did you remind me. D: So many layers of pain in this film. So many layers...

I think the entire cast should be hugged forever. They should have tons of group hugs. Even Sam. Sam probably doesn't need it quite as much at the moment, but dammit, he deserves them too.

The worst part is that I knew that all this shit was coming(in a fashion at least, just adapted from the comics) yet I was still WHOLLY UNPREPARED TO HANDLE IT. Just, gah. Don't hurt me this way Marvel.

I had to share the agony. You're welcome.

The next Avengers film should be nothing but group hugs and trips to the local ice-cream store to get like milkshakes and shit. NO PAIN HERE, ONLY FROZEN GOODNESS.

I know! I was just saying upthread that I read the comic, I read dozens of fic dealing with this very scenario, I read Wiki pages... Yet somehow I was still absolutely floored at the execution. Damn you, Marvel!

Ugh, Nat should not be in pain, Nat should be braiding Bucky's hair. (While Steve takes pictures in the background.)

I would genuinely like the next Avengers movie to be Steve getting Bucky back, them moving into Stark tower and all the Avengers hanging out and also helping Bucky overcome his problems. And eating ice cream.

Re: To no one's surprise, Captain America

(Anonymous) 2014-05-11 10:50 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm all for Bucky having issues with moving in where there are so many people who are not Steve.

And Tony finding all the ways to drag them both into Stark tower (like: huh yes, I've bought all the buildings in Brooklyn and I forbid 92 year-olds who look 25 to live in my buildings, sorry - but he also makes sure that Bucky's room is next to Steve's and that he can keep an eye on all the exits at all times, he had Pepper send in an expert on PTSD for that).

[personal profile] elaminator 2014-05-11 10:59 pm (UTC)(link)
Awwww yessss. I don't think Bucky would jump at the chance to move in with all the Avengers either tbh, but I think Steve and Tony could eventually convince him. As long as Steve was there next to him and he had some sort of counseling or something I think it could work. But I also think it would take time before he felt like hanging out with everyone at once, but until then he could hide in his room or hang with Steve and maybe meet the Avengers one on one.

Lmao at 92 year old that look 25. I could see Tony doing and saying that.

They are evil and make me feel things, how fucking dare they?

Yes, yes, yes. All hair-braiding going on here, no fights. No brain-washing. Just fun and cuddles.

Yup, and Bucky gets to make friends with other Avengers and they like all help each other to heal and eat ice-cream all day and never have to worry about the fate of the world ever again. What do you mean this isn't happening? Fuck.

[personal profile] elaminator 2014-05-11 11:06 pm (UTC)(link)
Thor can get in on the hair braiding too! Thor would be beast at braiding hair.

I agree, let's leave brainwashing in the past. Scrabble and DDR competitions and pizza parties are the future.

Ah, if only the MCU could progress like a fanfic...

Man he would rock at hair-braiding, Asgardian's have that shit down. Plus Natasha needs to braid Thor's hair too. It's soothing.

No Monopoly though, or mariokart. There would be blood.

There would be a lot of gay make-outs that's for sure. I have no problem with this.

[personal profile] elaminator 2014-05-12 12:17 am (UTC)(link)
Everyone can braid each others hair... Except the people who don't have enough. What a sad day that will be for them. :(

It would be a travesty if the Avengers survived a full scale alien invasion only to murder each other over Mario Kart.

Sooo many. Jarvis is lucky.

Age of Ultron? Nah, more like Age of Ben & Jerry's in front of Disney re-runs with blankets and group hugs.

Did anyone ask for additional feelings?

http://camunki.tumblr.com/post/84568667127/time-stagnates-here-suggested-i-make-a-winter

I saw someone mention that the Winter Soldier doesn't need to run to his victims. When he attacks Nick and Natasha, he walks - he knows that no matter how far his victims think they can run, he will always, always catch up to them. Winter Soldier!Bucky is terrifying (but I also want to hug him, like a prickly hedgehog).

(and fluff to make up for that: http://mechinaries.tumblr.com/post/83447174783/i-imagine-both-steve-and-bucky-like-to-come-up)

I don't think anything in the MCU terrifies me as much as Winter Soldier. Both the fact that he's an extremely efficient killing machine, or that he used to be a good person that's had his free will stripped from him in order to do things that once he remembers will haunt him for the rest of his life.

Thanks, Marvel.

And that Fanart is the best thing ever, omg... So cute! I want it in Cap 3.

I'm reading the Winter Soldier run in the comics right now (I was curious, after the movie), and tbh I feel like the brainwashing thing has a bit less impact there because there is SO MUCH BRAINWASHING.

TBH, I think MCU made a lot of very good calls in how they adapted the story, because there are things I am liking so much more in the movie (yeah whatever I'm a bad comics fan who cares)

Lmao, I do think there's a fair bit of brainwashing in the Marvel Universe, even in the stuff I haven't touched and have only heard about secondhand. I like the comic but I also totally love what Marvel did with Winter Soldier and kind of prefer the movie in certain ways as well if only for the fact that it has all these amazing actors who completely embody these roles. And I admit to liking Steve helping Bucky remember simply by the power of his loveeee instead of the cosmic cube. I liked Sam and Nat's roles so that's a big plus as well, and I didn't really miss Red Skull. I don't think it makes you a bad fan for preferring either version; everyone has different tastes, the movie caters to you more and that's okay.

Re: To no one's surprise, Captain America

//nod

I do think that all the actors did an absolutely stellar job in bringing the characters to life, and that's part of what made me love them. I wasn't even much of a Cap fan until his movies came out and Chris Evans sold me on the character.
I was a little bit underwhelmed by the cosmic cube, just because it had him remember so quickly, you know? It didn't leave as much room for satisfaction.
Yeah, I mostly find the Red Skull annoying, so I was glad in retrospect he wasn't in the movie.
I guess I just tend to like the tighter storylines the movie has, because the comics do branch out so much. While I am enjoying the Winter Soldier run overall, it's not punching me in the gut the way the movie did (well, except for the big spoiler about Cap that happens early on which I was NOT expecting)

I didn't know much about Cap before the film's either, but Evans is such a great Steve. He's so kind and good and has such conviction... He's such a fun, likable, brave guy. I just want to hug him.

Yea, the cube was rather fast. I can see why that might not be the most appealing option. What did you think about Bucky's memories in the film, btw? Did you think he remembered anything about Steve at the end of the film (Maybe that “End of the line” memory?) or do you think he was just so shocked that someone cared about him that much that it caught him off guard? I've seen all kinds of different answers and I still don't know what I believe, but I like to hear other people's interpretations.

Yea, I felt like the comic was a bit more over the place with the story. It wasn't as clear cut or interesting. I did like bits of it, but the film did a great job of making everything come together in a satisfying way.

(What was Cap's secret, btw? It's been about nine months since I read the comics and I've read a shitload of fanfic since then... I don't remember a secret. I don't think...)

Oh god...

WHY DO YOU HURT ME THIS WAY.

Seriously though that is really good and kind of gloriously painful?

Ahhhhhh, I've seen that one before but I will never complain about being shown it again. Thank you nonnie, for both!

Not anon you replied to but I've reblogged some fanart. If I was at my computer I'd link you to individual posts but it's not happening from my phone. If you want you can look through my fanart tag it's here. http://elaminator.tumblr.com/tagged/fanart
