On the plus side, it seems that tricorders are an actual thing now. We might not have a Starfleet but we might get all the cool gadgets.

Also it's a bit of a military endeavor. Imagine a more realistic starship with corrupt officers, shortage of supplies and such. Not every ship is like Enterprise, I think.

It's not too late, OP! Remember that TNG episode where three people from the 21st century had been cryogenically frozen and shot into space? The Enterprise found them and thawed them out, gave them counselling and a quick catch-up and sent them on their way (mostly). You could be frozen until then! Just make sure your family knows your wishes.
