NAIL POLISH THREAD!!!
Tell me (feel free to include pics of said nails, or just pics of the colors you like) what you like to do with them! Fingers? Toes? Both? Bright or muted? Sparkly? Patterned? Classic? Something else entirely?
Personally, my favorite is to just paint mine black. It looks like obsidian after the top coat. Sometimes I will use a really pretty shade of blue or green that I find in my mom's nail polish drawer. Strangely, I rarely stray outside of the blue/green color group other than black, except to do something funky like crackle (which doesn't look as cool on me as it does on everybody else; I'm bad at nail polish).
I do my fingernails on-and-off year-round, and my toes only in the summer (when it's warm enough to go out in flip-flops). Last summer my mom took me to get a pedicure for my birthday and I got an absolutely gorgeous shade of blue done that I wish I had for myself.
Oh, I'm fond of silver but I've never tried going straight-up silver before. I did try a sort of shiny steel gray that my mom had last week, and it was really cool, but not quiiiite what I would call ideal for a metallic shade. I should explore metallics more, though. Metallic dark gray is also really cool.
Here's a pic of the polish I got last summer. I don't usually go for the composite ones, I'm usually more of a solid-color person (though sometimes with silver glitter on top because why not), but I really liked this one for toes.

Re: NAIL POLISH THREAD!!!
I'm bookmarking this. So many cool ideas omg.
(Also, I think Essie's Go Overboard is one of the colors my mom has that I like using!!)
Re: NAIL POLISH THREAD!!!
Go Overboard is a super cool color! That color (and similar ones) is one of my absolute favorite for nail polish. And it looks great on pretty much anyone. It's very flattering.
Re: NAIL POLISH THREAD!!!
I definitely stick to muted colors for the most part. I like metallics too. I also have one sparkly purple one and I wouldn't mind getting more sparkly ones. I need to buy more colors. I'm cheap so I only have one bottle that I paid for myself. The rest were given to me and there isn't much of them.
My favorite brand is Zoya. I've got Cynthia, Pasha, and Gemma.
Re: NAIL POLISH THREAD!!!
Cynthia is beautiful. I think I have one like Gemma; it isn't the most flattering color on me but it's still lovely.

Re: NAIL POLISH THREAD!!!
Lately been wearing a lot of purple.
Re: NAIL POLISH THREAD!!!
Doing a different color on each nail sounds so fun honestly. I should try that.
Also, how/why does glitter damage your nails??

Re: NAIL POLISH THREAD!!!
17's Supreme Shine purple, I love purple in general and this colour is really nice. It also lasts pretty well.
Revlon's purple glittery nail polish, which I absolutely love but also chips pretty badly sometimes. I typically have to put a layer or two of clear polish over the top to prevent any really bad chipping.
Revlon's blue glittery nail polish, which has the same issues as the one above but I love the colour. And the sparkly glitteryness.
And Revlon's blue nail polish, this one is actually pretty good at not chipping. The first time I wore it it actually lasted a full week with no chips, since then though it seems to have heard me say that and chips after a couple of days. I love the colour though and when I was searching for a nice blue I snapped this one up.
I also have a plain black polish(that I couldn't find pictures for) that I love to wear as well and quite often default too because it's an easy colour to co-ordinate with and it's one of my better lasting polishes.
Re: NAIL POLISH THREAD!!!
And I have the glittery purple Revlon! I think I've only used it once so far (I have a lot of polish...) but it was nice.

Got this on clearance last week along with http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-7XB3PShiBAc/Uf_YDQJ_mII/AAAAAAAAVoc/vD37pCP1r0o/s1600/Zoya+Pepper+1.JPG
Haven't tried Pepper yet, but I'm adoring Zoya's PixieDust line and now I kind of want them all. They're so neat and look so cool in person.

Re: NAIL POLISH THREAD!!!
My favorite is a bright electric blue that was super cheap but somehow lasts long.
I've tried doing nail art before but I'm honestly awful at it.

Re: NAIL POLISH THREAD!!!
I like glossy opaques. Right now I have orange, cement grey, blood red, pine green, light green, and a purple so dark it looks black.
Re: NAIL POLISH THREAD!!!
(Anonymous) 2014-05-16 01:46 am (UTC)(link)My mother teases me about my crazy nail polish colors on occasion. In her mind, anything not in the pink/red/maroon family is for toenails only (and she does occasionally borrow my "crazy" colors for her toes). I, on the other hand, own pretty much every color except pink/red/maroon. I mostly gravitate towards the purple/blue/green family, with occasional forays into orange and coral, and I have a couple grey polishes I love. I can only do light colors, though, because I have stubby hands and dark polish really emphasizes that even when I grow my nails out.
All the polishes I own are either Sinful Colors or Sally Hansen Hard As Nails Xtreme Wear. They're both cheap and durable, and I love the color selection.

Re: NAIL POLISH THREAD!!!
You can get incredibly cheap nail decals and tools off ebay (search 'nail decals' and 'nail wheels' if you're interested. A couple years ago I bought about 10 nail wheels full of rhinestones and the like as well as a couple dotting tools for about $12, $15). Most the time you can even get free shipping for them. Actually, ebay is a decent place to buy polish in general; wouldn't have expected it, but there you go.

I also got this one that I love, but it's definitely not forgiving if I mess up!

Re: NAIL POLISH THREAD!!!
Oh, and I have the second. It's a great color. Very unique and cute.
