You are either too young or American, because Eurovision already had a trans woman, Dana International. She is from Israel and would get death threats from ultra Orthodox Jews.

No, it's just that the other non-European English-speaking countries love Eurovision. Didn't you see Australia's half-time show?

Eurovision has gotten very popular in America, but Europe deliberately ignores that fact.

(Kidding, but seriously, they could give us a shout-out! We have a whole Eurovision Channel here now, so it's not like they just don't know.)

I didn't know that! Last year I was spoiled for the result by an American who was genuinely surprised that anyone else outside Europe watched it at all!

Neither young nor American. I brought up Dana International a few comments above but forgot to mention I was the OP.

Actually, I think it make Conchita all the more useless since I'm been there done that got the T-shirt.
