I don't know about that. If 'Destiel becomes canon' like the majority of the Destiel shippers believe is going to happen in the finale, I doubt it'll end any time soon. Things will probably backfire on them if it doesn't though, since they've been poking that part of the fandom a lot lately. Apparently they're "going to get something they want' in the last few seconds of the episode or something like that.

I actually thought the same. I am sorta a shipper I guess (I stopped watching somewhere in season 6 and I shipped them then and now... don't really care but still like some of the graphics?) and I used to wonder why people complained about Destiel shippers, since I only remembered two or three LJ groups and no one was really being insanse there and then... I went to the tumblr tags around of the People's Choice Award's time and hooooo boy.

You realise of course that even tumblr is pretty highly divided on the issue, and the tumblr does not have all of the destiel fans on it, right?

Like, I want it to be canon, but that doesn't mean I think it will be.

(Disclaimer: Not up to date on all the "no homo" shanenigans of Season 9, so maybe I wouldn't even want it anymore.)

Cas has sex with a woman, Dean has more sex with women, etc. Destiel is pretty much just wink pandering to the fandom and will never be canon. It's already been stated by the guy who approves the script that Dean will never be gay/bisexual lol

There's a word for "I saw these people in the comments sections being crazy, and the destiel tag is full of hysteria" and it's anecdotal. "Majority" is you talking out of your ass, and even if I'm not claiming the opposite I'm at least not only paying attention when a few do something loud and obnoxious.

Nope, the last five seconds are supposed to be shocking. The "getting what you want" (which was said by Mark Sheppard) is earlier in the episode, and I'm pretty sure refers to the death of Metatron.
