What pairings do you like to fantasize about, and like reading PWP/smut for? (versus just skimming the smut in a fic)

All....all of them? I mean every pairing I like. Loki/Anyone, Steve/Bucky, Charles/Erik. If I enjoy a pairing, I want to see smut for them. The smuttiest. Smut galore. And I don't really consider it fantasizing but I do daydream smut for some of them. Especially ones I enjoy that have no fic (Steve Rogers/T.J. Hammond).

OH MY GOD HEADCANON TWINS! I SHIP IT TOO! (We are talking about TJ from Political Animals, right?)

I don't even remember how I started shipping it (aside from TJ being played by Sebastian Stan and being a Steve/Bucky shipper since Cap I)), but I have background for both tiny!Steve and big!Steve.

Please share your glorious headcanon with me.

Haha, I'm so glad I'm not the only who skims smut in a fic for the fluffy bits. That's all I have to say, I don't have any ships I find hot or sexy.

I second that. Well, I'd probably say "plot" instead of "fluff", but the intent is the same. (As I said a long time ago, I read slash for the plot and character development. The same can go for het. I'm currently working on my PhD. in Doing It Wrong.)

I'm one of those people who mostly skims all smut I come across for the fluffy bits and/or character development embedded in it. I used to just flat skip smutty bits altogether, but there are certain types of fic where you get fantastic character stuff in the porny bits, so these days I mostly just scan lightly through.

The exception, it turns out, are pairings with a distinct power/position imbalance that's being actively and consensually dealt with. Things like Harry Dresden/John Marcone (magically powerful but socially vulnerable wizard/magically helpless but politically ruthless crime boss). Apparently I really like porn with strong power differentials that are being actively explored (often through use of sharp things, at least in that particular pairing, owing to Marcone being a knife nut).

Anyone with recommendations for such pairings, by the way, feel free to lay them on me.

Ahh, about recs, my mind is currently empty.
Picard/Q, but there's not much fic.
Mycroft/Lestrade - a lot of nice fic, but I'm not sure if this's the dynamic you want, however it often has this vibe.
Grimm - Nick Burckhardt/Captain Renard
Third Doctor/Master
any pairing with Sephiroth, I think. I've read some Vincent/Sephiroth with this dynamic.

Sterek, actually, even though I don't really ship it otherwise. I only read the bottom!Derek smut though--the bottom!Stiles stuff tends to be way too generic for the most part.

Why in the world would I ever skim smut? (I mean, unless it's poorly written or something.) I regularly read smut for pairings in fandoms I don't even know.

Alex/Sophia from Last Exile. I actually wrote a smut fic for them because there just really isn't any. I'll never post it though. I don't think I can write smut well at all.

Pretty much every pairing I like. At the moment I want more Steve/Bucky but Kirk/Spock is a favorite (I'll read either version), and I've always been really into McShep and more recently Sterek.

Things I want more of: after Dark Knight Rises I wanted all the Bruce/Selina smut (with in control Selina), but there was depressingly little. Also Thor/Loki, but I'm afraid to look because norsekink scarred me. (Too much crying bottom Loki, m!preg, Thor being a dick, etc.)

Actually, now that I think about it, I really want Tony/Pepper smut... I wonder if there's a decent amount of it. (I assume no because of Tony/Steve but I'll look later.)

I know this isn't technically a rec list thread buuuuuuuut, you've mentioned wanting non-woobie Thor/loki stuff before so I thought I'd drop by with this rec list. Well, I was on a bit of an Agron/Nasir kick after finishing Spartacus and seeing as they get pretty sexy in the show, hell yes I will read all of the smut. I only skim if I don't like the way it's written.

Steve/Bucky. Really, any MCU pairing because they are all hot. But particularly this one or anything with Thor.

Buffy pairings, particularly combinations of Spike, Buffy, and Angel.

Although, I never actually skim smut. I'm more likely to read PWPs (or action/adventure with side pairings) than anything else. Actually you can usually tell how much I like a pairing by whether or not I read longer fics without porn.
