We think you're lame because you apologize for everything, use the metric system, put gravy on your french fries and act smug because your ketchup-flavored chips don't have to have the word 'flavored' on them to be sold in stores.

The mountie uniforms are awesome, though.

Wait, what. Your ketchup chips have to have 'flavoured' added to them to be sold? Why?

(And yes this is all I focused on out of that sentence. XD)

(Anonymous) 2014-05-21 11:19 pm (UTC)(link)
Some labeling rule. You have to say 'flavored' if a product doesn't include the thing it tastes like as an ingredient. There's no ketchup in ketchup chips, just seasoned tomato powder (and potatoes, I guess).

Thanks for reminding me of one I forgot, by the way - the extra 'u'.

I'm American and I never knew this!

That is a strange rule... I mean, in a way it kind of makes sense, but at the same time, it's CHIPS. I highly doubt someone's standing in the chip aisle assuming that all those weird ass chip flavours actually contain the ingredients they're flavoured after.

(Not so secretly I don't even like ketchup chips!)

What are ketchup-flavored chips? Like, potato chips flavored like ketchup? Why?

Lays are a vastly inferior product to the king of ketchup chips, Old Dutch.

Shut your mouth, gravy on fries is DELICIOUS. And I have never been to Canada. Do other people not eat them that way? With brown gravy? Shit, now I'm hungry.

(Anonymous) 2014-05-22 12:04 am (UTC)(link)
Gravy, malt vinegar, AND ketchup.

Mayo and ketchup! Or gravy. Or gravy and cheese. Or chilli and cheese. Or wrapped in bread and dipped in gravy/Swiss Chalet sauce. So many tasty ways to eat fries. *__*

Shut your mouth, gravy on fries is DELICIOUS.

It really is. I don't use gravy often (usually just use ketchup), but gravy (white, for me) on fries is scrumptious and I don't know why anyone would find that weird or unappealing.

I definitely will eat them with gravy! If I buy chips at Red Rooster or KFC gravy is the way to go!

At home? Maybe not so much, but that's just because a lot of the time I cook chips at home I'm too lazy to make gravy. I usually only make gravy for a full roast dinner.

HERESY

POUTINE IS AWESOME AND KETCHUP CHIPS ARE DELICIOUS EVEN IF IT'S JUST TOMATO POWDER AND NOT ACTUALLY KETCHUP

I STILL DON'T UNDERSTAND THE METRIC SYSTEM THOUGH, THAT'S UNDERSTANDABLE

you...don't understand the metric system? it's inherently the easiest system to understand

I have a lot of numbers-related learning problems :( I have trouble doing conversions.

I have trouble understanding what is so hard to understand about the metric system. It's all multiples of ten!

But then I'm a young enough Australian that I learned metric in school. (My mother was raised on imperial, but even she understands metric.)

The only place that imperial measurements are relevant to me is in people's heights, and the fact that I resorted to inches to pick a size for my silmaril headcanon (I put them at two inches in diameter) because using metric in LotR feels anachronistic.

I grew up in the States, and when I was a kid they went "yeah here's the metric system BUT WE'RE NEVER EVER GOING TO USE IT" so I never got used to it, and like I said in another comment, I have number-related learning problems, so it makes conversions between the two really really hard for me. @_@

The metric system is the best thing ever and you're clearly an uneducated boor for preferring your strange illogical system to it.

use the metric system

Anon, I hate to break it to you, but it's 'muricans who are weird for not using the metric system. (And yes, I'm from the US)

a traitor to our nation! how dare you support the metric system?? anything we didn't come up with is nonsense!

Canadians put gravy + cheese curds! Is there anywhere they don't eat fries with gravy? I'm sure they do in other commonwealth countries, and I can't imagine why fries would be the one thing americans don't put gravy on.

(Anonymous) 2014-05-22 04:45 am (UTC)(link)
and the milk bags don't forget about those!

How many countries now use metric anyway? I thought most of them do! I certainly know Australia does.

Besides, what is so hard to understand about measurements that are all multiples of ten?
