I ship two RP characters so hard, but I have nobody to tell, because if I tell the RPers, they'll probably side-eye me so hard (and even if I send it anon, they might know it's me, since I tend to be known for being the crazy shipper in fandoms that don't really focus on shipping, like the one they're RPing in), and nobody else I know follows their RP.

Sigh.

Got any ships you can't tell anyone about, f!s? Does it drive you crazy, or do you prefer being a private shipper?

i ship the player character's mom and the professor in every pokémon game (except RSE, where we meet the dad). can't help it, i love the dynamic.

I have one ship that I ship for fucked up reasons and have thought about making a secret about. However I could talk about if pressed and people were interested. My main problem is more that I don't have anybody to gush and squee over my ships with.

It's such a small fandom that anybody in it will know, but let's just say one character tried to kill the other and then lost his memory and forgot about his enmity towards the second character and was being all concerned about him, and the first character has no idea how to hold a grudge and refused to tell the second character what he'd done because it might make him get homicidal again, but to me it looked really adorable like they were looking out for each other and quietly being cuties together and eeeee

But from what you told me about these two characters, I can see why you ship it. It presses so many of my buttons from the description alone. I feel like squeeing with you.

It drives me crazy sometimes that most fans in my current small fandom have the same slash OTP, which consists of the protagonist/his childhood friend. It doesn't do anything for me as the homoerotic hints are too overt and I find it unhealthy. Basically, the protagonist's character development in all 3 seasons requires him to act out a part of the larger plan someone else has set out for him. Even after the childhood friend becomes a 'good' character, his final solution to defeat the series' antagonist still involves having the protagonist be unknowingly part of his scheme (which involves the childhood friend and other allies faking their deaths, hence traumatizing the protagonist for a while). Right now I'm more curious to find who doesn't ship this DX

Back to the topic at hand, I ship the protagonist/an androgynous character because the androgynous character is the one of the few who takes an initiative to communicate with the protagonist. I feel that the relationship can potentially teach the protagonist to make conscious changes in his life at long last and to me considering about that is more fruitful than simply extending the homoerotic hints.

Anyhow, since this is a really small fandom, there's mostly cute fanart of the fandom OTP and close to none disturbing representations of their dynamic so I don't mind it very much. I just wish that I can discuss the potential of my rare pair with someone :( (The fandom is Phi Brain, if anyone is curious or knows of it).

The only thing I know about that series is that Rook has awesome hair and seems to be my kind of guy. Is it worth giving a try? What's the main fandom's ship and what is yours? Gush about yours and maybe I can join you in that rarepair corner.

I can sympathize though. Being a rarepair shipper can be terrible at times. Especially when you're surrounded by a juggernaut pairing that you dislike.

You can definitely enjoy this series a lot if crazy shonen shenanigans is what you're looking for :D Season 1 has a good balance of crazy and darker episodes, Season 2 develops further each character's role in the group and Season 3 focuses on developing the antagonists past and present.

The main fandom ship is Rook/Kaito and my rare ship is Ana/Kaito. As one can easily guess, a good number of characters are into Kaito (the protagonist) but in extreme and co-dependent ways. I like Ana/Kaito best out of all the Kaito ships as both are implied to be mutually attracted to each other and hence making it viable for them to act on their attraction when they're older. I see it as a passionate but still sustainable relationship and I like those kind of ships best. The other characters' extreme approaches to Kaito inadvertently exacerbates Kaito's passivity, which I think is a very much unexplored flaw and the subject of another rant.

Not gonna lie, as someone who rps if someone sent me a message [other than my rp partner] talking about how much they shipped our characters I'd be a little creeped out since I mostly tend to ignore people who just watch rps plus...well. Yeah, from what I've seen people who do that *also* tend to be the ones who harass/threaten/etc one of the two rpers when things get rocky or the relationship [platonic or otherwise] does anything but go romantic and well.

I 'ship Eleventh Doctor/Amy, but only in a couple ridiculously tragic scenarios where something horrible has happened to Rory. I don't talk about it because ridiculously tragic is so not my usual thing and I don't know why I've latched onto this particular idea.

My forever OTP is deeply fucked up, contains all the tropes I normally hate in concentrated form, and almost literally no one else cares about it. It's the only ship I'm legit embarrassed by -- though that might be just because of the "no one to share it with" factor.

What pairing is this, if I may ask? It sounds a bit like a ship I have that I actually really love because it has some ethical problems, and its fans are very scattered.

Not in quite the same way you describe, OP, but I do have a ship that I want to RP rather badly. I don't make it a secret that I ship it, but it's a rare enough het pairing, involving an unpopular character, in a fandom that's overwhelmingly slashy (and sorta-kinda incesty to boot, depending on how literally you take certain metaphors) that I very much hesitate to approach muns playing the other half of my OTP. And have gotten burned a few times when I tried.

And yeah, it does drive me crazy when I see people who ship the big ships buried under piles of eager RP partners while I'm lucky to even find one.

I'm in a similiar position. There's a rare slash ship I want to roleplay very badly, but since it involves a rather unpopular character there's no guarantee any of the few roleplayers who roleplay the other half of the ship would be into it. The fandom isn't as big as it once was and most people in the fandom don't sem like they'd be open to it.

I only have one sort of shippy thing that I will never admit to even if asked point-blank -- although I suspect that the outline of it is silhouetted in a lot of things I talk freely about.

Hahahah you remind me of someone (or several people actually) on one of the old rp comms I used to be on.

I would not be disturbed by someone shipping my RP, my RP came from shipping characters in a fic where they were only shown as best friends. Actually it wasn't even me who first mentioned the idea, but I backed up that comment and it ended up in RP (note, my RP partner is the writer of the fic).

Mostly I have no worries about speaking about my ships, though during the time I was in an RP group where the resident Kíli was involved with my Silmaril, and my Boromir was involved with an OC, I was a little less inclined to make much noise about shipping Kíli/Boromir. I think the whole group were plenty aware of my RP with Valandhir though.

(As for shipping, I've always got the closet door open, but any bells and whistles are small if not silent.)
