Buzzfeed recently did a post quoting Whisper confessions from men with eating disorders, and I caught myself feeling like some of them were not from cismen. I also get this feeling most of the time when "Blah blah, I'm a guy by the way" comes out.

And I feel bad about it, because a transman is still a man, so what does it matter? But at the same time, the life experience of someone who hasn't been always perceived as male is going to be different from someone who has. But I'm still not sure what it matters. IDK, maybe it's leftover annoyance from all the tumblr snowflakes bleeding over?

Don't assume that a guy's not cis just because something about what he's saying doesn't sound like your stereotype of men. You're not a bad person for having stereotypes--we all get programmed with them and they're hard as hell to shake--but real people tend to be more complex than they look from outside.

How do you know for sure they're trans?

Eating disorders are pretty common amongst guys who are gay or bi, as well. Or guys with a history of child abuse in their past.

(Not to mention the obvious fact that straight guys can also suffer from EDs - my brother had one, linked to his OCD.)

This is not what I said.
