This was inspired by the realization that, for fairly obvious reasons, ABO will probably never be a thing in the MLP fandom. Nor have I ever seen a coffee shop AU or anything with soulbonding, and surprisingly, there's very little in the way of intimate healing. (There's hurt/comfort, but it's largely parents or parental figures comforting children.)

What does your fandom not have?

Variety.

There's no variety when it come to pairings, it's almost always the same two or three pairings the fandom writes. And even then, the fandom only mainly writes the main ship juggernaut.

There's hardly any fic that takes place in canon. Don't get me wrong, I can and do enjoy AUs but sometimes I just want fics that are set in canon to read.

One possible solution to this is perhaps to write meta with lots of evidence from canon where situations can be further developed into fics.

That totally reminds me of a headcanon I've been mentally composing for a secondary character but just don't know of a good place to display it. I know Tumblr has been used for these things, but me joining Tumblr will happen after the Cubs win the World Series.

Wow, there's no hurt/comfort among the mane six? I'm genuinely surprised.

My fandom tends to lack epic AUs. There are a few, but it's mostly porn or slice-of-life domestic stuff.

I think the Technicolor series might be h/c, maybe? (It looks pretty brutal, so I haven't read it.) And I guess you could sort of argue Our Voices Carry Through the Hills (which is also the closest thing I've seen to soulbonding.)

It might just be the distinction between physical pain and emotional pain. Most writers seem reluctant to really brutalize the ponies on a physical level, so when one character comforts another character, it tends to be for issues of a psychological nature. (The Light in the Darkness is a good example of the type.)

There's a DitzyMac fic called Dizty Doo's Dismally Derpy Day that I would classify as hurt/comfort, but not in the porny kind of way. It's just a genuinely good little fic about Ditzy Doo and how she handles stress and stuff and Big Mac has a hand in it.

I'm in the Borgias fandom. We can't haz closure.

All my fandoms need characters meeting their actors or switching universes. And The Walking Dead needs more fic period.

As far as I'm concerned, TWD TV show is fic.

But then I'm a grump who already hates TV as it is, so maybe my opinion doesn't count for much.

Dude, I was scrolling through page after page of TWD fic, growing more and more incredulous as literally 7/10 fics were OC tripe...I know Sturgeon's Law and all, but really! That fandom just plain doesn't have gen.

(There might be one or two out there that I haven't found, but gdi I literally looked at every fic on Ao3 the other day and found nothing.)

I dunno about ABO, but I would LOVE to see a coffee shop AU in the MLP fandom. Just one!

Also, ABO I guess. It's been requested on our kink meme before but no one ever fills it.

Fic that doesn't have anything to do with my NOTP. I'm pretty sure at this point that almost everyone else ships them.

Homestuck fandom just doesn't seem to have ABO either. I'm sure it exists, but it's not as prolific as my previous fandom Hetalia by a long shot.

Also, off-Tumblr fandom. The best I've found is the official forums.

There are a lot of Homestuck fans on Youtube. Does that count for anything?

Well, my fandom is smallish, so there's a lot of things it doesn't have. No ABO, no HDM AUs, no long plotty fic, no BDSM AUs. I think I saw one coffee shop AU once. Uh, no incest, which is really sad!

I have seen exactly one coffee shop AU in Zelda fandom, and it was written by a friend because I wanted to know why Zelda didn't have any coffee shop AUs.

Related, it honestly amazes me that there aren't any coffee shop AUs for Lysandre/Sycamore (Pokemon fandom), or really, ANY ship with Lysandre, considering that he canonically owns a cafe.
