The gift of fear is mostly a bunch of bullshit, and packed to the gills with false positive nonsense, and encourages an incredibly paranoid mindset to be frank.

And I'm not saying that this guy didn't have warning signs (he did), but the idea that they will always exist simply isn't the case. Plus if we want to dive into the fact that there were warning signs we could dive down into that, but the question about what you can do with them - and the issue of how many harmless individuals you risk othering, well things get complicated.

Haha, no, it does the opposite and this makes me think you didn't read it (or didn't finish it at any rate).

Well aside from some momentary fit of madness, which may happen, the warning signs do exist. And evaluating them is an incredibly complicated process as you said - but that doesn't mean we shouldn't try to do that or that we should ignore them.

I'll be honest it's been years. But there's a reason it's pretty much a joke in the LEO field, and so many people ridicule him.

Ok, so you criticize something without even being able to cite the reason or remembering much about what you criticize. I don't worship the book, but I'm still grateful to it for giving me some useful advice.

I'm a busy man with too much knowledge I need to be up on to remember full blown critiques of a fucking New York Times best seller that Oprah thinks is worthwhile.

Those twelve little words are the minimum necessary amount of data I need to recall to show it's worthless.
