Sure, the whole "in the interests of Hydra" thing might have been a bit pale.

But I don't see why killing people based on what they've done or might do is bad. And wasn't that what Fury was planning, anyway? Steve certainly seemed to think so, given that he said the thought that the punishment usually came after the crime.

You don't think killing people based on things they might theoretically but very well could not do is bad? I'm a little terrified to be honest.

MTE, that's one of the genuinely most terrifying non-troll things I've seen expressed here.

Agreed.

Yeah, I'm sorry, but you really can't skim over the whole "nazi" thing. Hydra was a nazi thing. Nazis are bad.

Also Fury wasn't planning to just start killing 2000 people at a time while at least one of them was coaching a little league game. He was planning to kill people who were members of terrorist groups while they were planning terrorist acts. Not high school valedictorians.

Also, again, the whole nazi thing. I really can't overstate how horrible nazis are.

Especially as the helicarrier plot was basically to install a mass murder device in the sky to get rid of dissidents of the new world order, and make others live in constant fear.

Yeah, I'm totally cool with Nazi's killing millions to create their twisted version of Utopia....oh wait.

This to infinity, though I highly agree with the whole, “You can't kill people just because they MIGHT do something bad”. Plus, this is HYDRA we're talking about, they aren't going after just criminals or anything, they're going after people who pose a threat to them. Also, again, a nazi created the algorithm for this system. Nothing about this is remotely okay. (I still think you're trolling, because... Well, I have to, for the sake of my hope for humanity, but whatever.)

Things I have learned today

Apparently Dick Cheney hangs out in Fandomsecrets.

I just choked on my coffee laughing, thanks nonny.

*I'm probably going to hell for laughing at that though*

omg, lmao

Re: OP

I would understand not being talkative after all the disapproving comments, but I am curious why you found the movie preachy.

Re: OP

(Anonymous) 2014-05-30 11:45 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, that is exactly what Fury was going to do. Because at the time he was on board with Pierce's vision. And Fury wasn't any less wrong when he was behind that sort of project than Pierce was. I... thought that was pretty clear in the movie actually.

Re: OP

(Anonymous) 2014-05-30 12:11 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, OP, let's say you're not trolling- you might as well want to kill everyone in the whole world since there isn't a single person who hadn't done something bad/hurtful at least once in their life. You, too.

Re: OP

(Anonymous) 2014-05-30 01:19 pm (UTC)(link)
So, if your name came up in the program, you'd be perfectly happy to die because a random computer program said you might, sometime in your lifetime, do something bad? Like, oh, I don't know.. rebel against an extremist government?

Yeah. Then you have a very interesting worldview.

(And if you think you would have no chance of being selected, you don't know what your future holds. No one does. And if the program says that you're a threat, you're a threat. That's it. No chance for appeal. You're dead.)

(Anonymous) 2014-05-30 04:54 pm (UTC)(link)
Ok, ok, assume we're all Hydrans, for some reason. It's still a stupid plan.

Because a good many if not all of those people murdered, even if we assume they're all murdery-murderers, have friends, family, etc., etc. who are now all emotionally damaged because of their being murdered and thus are much more likely to want to lash out at the thing that hurt them: Hydra!

But I don't see why killing people based on what they've done or might do is bad

Yikes.
