Blah blah blah, Radfem trolly troll, etc etc, but someone did point out something recently I hadn't considered and now I do think there is a reason for people feeling like a woman raping a man doesn't count.

When a woman is raped there is a very high likelihood of actual physical damage being done. Tearing and bleeding and internal damage, and on top of that the possibility of pregnancy.

So I'm not going to say it doesn't count as real rape, and I'm not going to troll out like you are, but Yes, I think I agree that it's not the same level of bad when it happens to a man.

Lysa had sex with Petyr when he thought she was Cat/was unable to consent due to being drunk. (...if I'm remembering what happened correctly which I might be because it's been so long)

But Petyr also manipulated Lysa, took advantage of her feelings for him, used her and then killed her.

Yeah no, LF is still a piece of shit. He forced an 11 year old (Jeyne Poole) into prostitution then sent her off to marry the most evil character in GOT. He's now preying on a vulnerable and traumatized 13 year old girl. He's basically the reason behind every single mess in the series.

But their entire relationship was based on manipulation by both of them, anyway, and I think most people realize both of them were pretty villainous in their own ways.

Well, as someone who's never read the books, this was never hinted at in the show. So the people saying that may well be in the same boat.

I don't see that any of these things are mutually exclusive. Lysa had sex with Petyr when he wasn't in a state to consent and probably wouldn't have done so if he were. Lysa was also forced into an abortion and into a cold marriage, both of which would go on to cause her serious mental and physical trauma. Petyr was dismissed and disdained for no better reason than the circumstances of his birth. Petyr is also amoral, arguably a sociopath, and single-handedly responsible for the deaths of thousands.

I will never understand why a series so notable for its shades of grey attracts fans who insist on seeing everything in black-and-white.

I hate them both. Love the characters though. That doesn't mean I forgive what they've both done in their lives.
