I've been torn between watching this review just so I can see the badness for myself and judge it on my own terms, and simply taking everyone else's words for it and not wasting my time.

I used to like Lindsay and Doug's reviews equally, but now I generally prefer the former's anyway.

I was actually the opposite before. I wasn't a big fan of Lindsay, even if I usually respected her opinion but I loved Doug. Now I like Lindsay's reviews much better and am happy to see when she puts on new martial. With Doug, I check on his work every once and a while but I don't feel the need to watch every episode of his like I used to. I'm not sure if it's me or him but I don't find his newer videos as funny as his old ones. For one I think he over uses skits verse just giving a review and poking fun at what he's watching like he used to.

Yeah, that's pretty much it with me too. Sometimes his skits are funny, but a lot of the time they're over-acted and don't really add too much to the review itself. Even when Lindsay did skits they were minor things, kept to the beginning or end of each review.

i utterly DESPISE the skits. I skip them immediately.

yeah, i know, the actors are trying and it's a bit of variety from Doug just sat at a table cutting to and from movie clips and adding his own comments, but like, 9 times out of 10 they're not funny and more than a bit... well, pandering?

Pass. I couldn't get through it. And I actually like the Nostalgia Critic, even after his comeback. But this one was just...bad. It was...I want to say offensive, but I don't mean in a social justice way. I mean that I was just, y'know, offended by how little effort or intelligence he put into it, how he just tried to fake his way through critiquing something that is a cultural phenomenon without putting any effort into understanding the thing itself or the time period in which it was made. Like, how did he even think that was a good idea? It's one thing to be annoyed with nitpickers, but it's another thing to just review one of the biggest gamechangers for anime and comics (both manga and otherwise) in America with only a passing knowledge and a lot of "Yeah, I don't know, I guess it's supposed to be ____ or something?" attitude. It was just supremely lazy and I kind of expect better from him (yeah, yeah, I know plenty of people have their critiques, but I feel like he usually does try to put effort into his reviews, and dangit, Sailor Moon is actually pretty freaking important in the pop culture spectrum--it's the seed for a lot of changes in the comics and animation industry and fandom we see today).

I'm actually so so with Lindsay's, but then she doesn't do straight up reviews all that often anymore. But she is better at presenting films, however stupid, as a reflection of the culture of the time, and talking about their impact on future pop culture.
