I'm always really sad when I start my period because I've really been serious about wanting a kid for about a year now. I feel like my SO and I are getting too old and I'm feeling the pressure to have children now or I feel like I'll never have them. Having kids is really fucking important to me and I told my SO if he didn't fuck me more (because we only have sex like a couple times a month which is probably why I've never gotten pregnant) I'd start getting mad instead of sad. I don't even care if that sounds shitty but I'm so afraid I'm infertile for reasons and I don't even want to go to the doctor for confirmation because I'd die-- literally because I'd feel life wasn't worth living-- if if I found out I couldn't have kids.

Is adoption an option?

I don't know. It's nothing something I'm considering just yet, but may in the future. My mom and uncle were adopted and mom my has issues with adoption... so I don't even know.

Ah, well, if you need anything from me I was adopted too so I can give advice on it. Otherwise, I hope everything works out for you and that come what may you're happy.

Not really, but only because I'm a boring person. Having kids is extremely important to me.

You should try more and at the right days (track it if you aren't, there are even apps for that now). But you should both go to a doctor - it's possible that you or your partner could have a minor condition you can treat and then you'd succeed. Good luck anyway.

I'm not sure how old you are, fingals, but if it helps, my sister was born when my parents were 32 and I was born when my parents were 35, and we've both turned out groovy. :)

I'm not sure how old you are, but... my parents had myself and my sister when my mom was 31 and 35, IIRC. Give or take a year. My grandmother had two children in her 40s (with her last -- granted, this was, like, the 60s or early 70s -- her doctor insisted that she couldn't be pregnant and instead had a tumor, because he was so certain that she couldn't have a baby at nearly 45... nope, she was pregnant). My evil ex was born to his mother at 42. I'm sure I can think of other examples.

If you're really intent on pregnancy, I have heard the book Taking Charge of Your Fertility recommended countless times for charting fertile times. It's not so much having sex all the time as it is having sex at the right time. I'm not sure if you have an LJ account but the

vaginapagina community is incredibly helpful for info on pregnancy. I've seen a lot of great advice given there, and if you don't have an account, you may want to make one just to ask... and I don't mean just the physical, either; there are folks who ask for help on how to talk to their husbands who aren't taking things as seriously.

It's a great resource (with the caveat that you want to avoid gendered greetings, and words like "crazy", because the mods will give a "safe space warning" for that... not that they really do anything except ask you to edit, but I try to let people know about that going in; even despite that, the community has been very helpful to me personally with issues I have had, and I've seen a LOT of folks trying to get pregnant getting a lot of compassion and good advice).
