Cherik from XMen First Class because dammit, how could I not.

Ugh, I hate that I ship this so hard because it's both absolutely heartbreaking and frustrating as hell. They have so much chemistry, though. I was admittedly shipping the Professor and Magneto in the other movies as well, but First Class made it so much worse. (I mean... Come on, didn't they know each other like a week? That's some SERIOUS bonding. Then... Well, I don't know if you've seen DOFP yet, but those reactions. ..)

Man, idk, they're just ridiculous.

This ship is pain. So much love, but pain.

I made like 14 (slightly) different icons out of this image because I needed one and it took forever to get something I even remotely liked, lol. I did see ONE either at marvel-icons (LJ) or fandom-icons (DW), can't remember which, but I wanted an icon of his smile, so...had to make it.

Hopefully other people will start making more icons soon, because I want pretty icons.

Well, it's absolutely possible to love a totally platonic friend. That part wasn't gay IMO.

The gay part was, y'know, aaaallllll the other stuff. Like Erik almost ripping the plane with the force of his ~passion~ while advancing on Charles. And Charles punching Erik in the face. And Charles' whole "you ABANDONED me!!!" blowup.

(due to the staggering amount of...uh...*creative* XMFC kinmeme fic I've been exposed to, I half-expected Charles to add "and left me pregnant!!")

Gayest part had to be when Charles was all "BUT HOW COULD YOU LEAVE ME AND TAKE ALL THAT I LOVED?!?!"

And Erik came back with "HOW COULD YOU LET ME LEAAAAVE? WHY DIDN'T YOU TRY HARDER TO KEEP MEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!?!?"

Like, ugh, you assholes. Mash your face parts together.

I KNOW. I LOVE IT AND I HATE IT AT THE SAME TIME.

I assume the xmen_firstkink comm on LJ is still around. That place was super active when XMFC first came out. There might be an upsurge in activity now that DOFP is out as well.

I swear, there is no way I can ever think of what happened at the end of First Class as anything other than a breakup. Yes, fandom started it, but in DOFP the two of them even act like they've broken up from some intense romantic relationship and both still have feelings for one another. Everyone else seems to act like that, too. (Like I said below, Hank mentions Charles losing Erik before he mentions his sister. That's kind of...hardcore, especially when he couldn't have known him a fraction as long.)

Quicksilver's face in the scene where Charles punches Erik kills me. Before that he's all smiles then they start arguing and you get this. What the hell must he think went on between those two? Haha.

The plane scene was beautiful, though. Erik is trying to be civil at first, glad to see Charles but wary, and Charles is furious and then they both get furious and they are ridiculous.

Can't believe we got, "You abandoned me" in canon.

Just wanted to say I love your icon. The way tumblr went on about Quicksilver, I expected him to be in the movie longer, but eh. Doesn't matter. He was an enjoyable little shit to watch. :D

Thank you! I was trying to stay away from spoilers so I didn't read much about the film beforehand, but I still managed to hear lots of, "Quicksilver is so awesome, omg", "I love Quicksilver so much, how can you not?" and thought he'd be in the film a good bit. Then my friend was all, "Nope, lol, he's in a few minutes. But it's the best few minutes." And it totally was.

And then you follow it up with sexy-haired Thor. You are my new icon hero. I'll stop now.

I feel like it was about the same amount of gay, and possibly even slightly less gay (Erik held Charles on the beach whilst talking about how he wanted him on his side. Plus that whole satellite scene) because it felt like they had less scenes together. (And to me those two are just naturally gay, so less scenes means less gay.) Not sure if they actually did have less time together (they still had plenty of scenes if you combine both their old and young selves), but it felt that way.

The fact that Hank mentioned Erik before Raven, Charles' sister when he was talking about the things he lost was one of the bigger (and most 'damning' moments) for me. Like...seriously?

The love bit and "You abandoned me!" and all of that was just so damn 'angry ex-lover' that I couldn't handle it.

I *think* it was more like a couple months, not a week, but my memory of XMFC is fuzzy. I think the timeframe in the movie was sort of nebulous, but all I remember distinctly was that in all the fics their association stretched from sometime in the summer until October (the Cuban Missile Crisis was in October).

Also, your Quicksilver icon is love. Movie Quicksilver in general is love. <3

The time is fuzzy, but it is definitely cold when they first meet (everyone is wearing coats, their breath is steamy) and then summer passes, and then its October. So I'd say they probably spend from April-ish to October together. And then pine for 10 years.

Yeah, that sounds right, thanks! :) I *think* college was still in session during Charles' bar scenes too, now that I think of it, which would make it before May anyway.

That would make so much more sense than a week. I've seen people say it was only a week or two and I've seen people say it was months; I was always confused as to which was correct.

Time just seems to fly by so fast in that movie.

Thank you! I love movie Quicksilver; he was certainly one of the best parts of the film for me. It's sad he wasn't used more, but apparently he didn't 'fit in' with the rest of the film. (And he would've made shit too easy, I imagine.)

Thankfully it sounds like he's coming back with a bigger role next time, so I'm happy.

Yes, I have seen DoFP. I probably ship it even more after watching DoFP. Uuuugggh... At least it's a juggernaut pairing so the fic will be abundant.

I ship it more too, if that's even possible. As with Winter Soldier, I really want the DVD to be out already so people can start making a million high-quality, high-angst fanvids.
