Most boring senshi ITT

(Anonymous) 2014-06-03 12:26 am (UTC)(link)
Since I only ever saw first season of the English dub while growing up, I thought Venus was the most boring because she was in maybe 1-3 episodes before the finale, because she showed up out of nowhere and was hypercompetent.

I always found Mars the most boring. I guess because I'm a very grouchy person and several of my childhood friends were as well, so she wasn't interesting to me.

Mercury at least had her family-based insecurities in the manga, and Venus and Jupiter both had nice balances of tomboy/girly girl interests.

For the record, there is a reason for that. The "Sailor V" manga was written before Sailor Moon, and Minako was going through all her training and fighting crime before Usagi got her powers.

I thought Minako was boring even in the original. She always just felt like Usagi-lite, and I know the reason for that, but still, boring. Usagi herself wouldn't be high on my list of interesting senshi either.

But my favorite is Hotaru, and I know she's widely considered boring.

Since Minako is the original senshi I always considered Usagi to be Minako-lite.

Besides Minako plays volleyball and dreams of being a star, she's awesome.

Minako was hilarious and had tons of dreams in the anime and she was really badass in the manga, I don't know how anyone could dislike Minako (she's not even my favorite but you gotta give her props.)

I also liked Minako's story a little better then Usagi's, but I always thought Naoko wrote sad stories better then happy ones.

I thought it made more sense in the manga. The anime doesn't really go into the "She was put under a spell to think she was Usagi", so it makes zero sense that Luna and Artemis wouldn't know Sailor Moon=daughter of the queen

It did seem that Luna and Artemis didn't remember anything about the past other than that there WAS a princess. It made a bit more sense in the live action version too, where Minako and Artemis were purposefully pulling a rouse and the term Moon Princess didn't even come up until well after Minako had established herself as the Princess, in the Elegy for a Princess episode.

Mercury was always my least favorite. I didn't HATE her or anything, I just didn't find her all that interesting. Even to this day my feelings on her are best summed up by "*SHRUG* She's okay I guess."

Probably Sailor Star Maker... I like all the planetary senshi.

The dub did Minako no justice at all, and she was in technically more episodes then the dub showed. I recommend watching the original anime because she has some of the best episodes of the entire show.

My least favorite is probably Star Maker? I don't really hate any senshi, but I have ones I feel are the least interesting in the smaller sets, like Mercury for the inner senshi, Pluto for the outer senshi and Star Maker for the lights. I don't dislike any of them though, that's just if I must answer.

If you consider Mamoru a senshi (I don't) then he is my least favorite.

Oh yeah the dub even cut out the all important Sailor V backstory episode which was her best bit of season one characterization.

And yes she has some of the best episodes.

"Pure heart... came out."
"That's good Minako, now let's put it back in"
*Minako giggles maniacally and runs away*
