It's not about you, though. It's about what they'd miss. Other people's lives are theirs.

That's a terrible thing to think. But the thing is, you only thought it. As long as you didn't tell them, then I don't see too much of a problem.

Did you keep that shit to yourself, at least? As long as you didn't bait a suicidal person, it's okay to think otherwise rude thoughts. We all do it sometimes.

As long as you keep those awful things to yourself it's fine.

(Do you mean this person is an author of badfic? I was a little unclear on the connection between "I am living to see the MCU movies" and your extrapolation.)

I think everyone has had bad thoughts in their life, it's really only a problem if you don't realize that those thoughts are bad and/or you don't keep them to yourself.

dude, who cares if their stories aren't so good? if i knew a suicidal person and if they cared that people read their stories i'd read every last one, multiple times. and if those movies are the main reason they look forward to the future, then i'm gonna squee over them with that person, even if they're most godawful movies on the planet.

I'm reminded of a conversation I once had with a friend who said that the problem with "A robot may not harm a human, or through inaction allow a human to come to harm" is that it would work great right up until assholes figured out they could just tell robots "I will kill myself if you don't make refilling my drink your top priority."

The reason some (not all) people use suicide threats as a way to manipulate and control others is that sometimes it works.

Yeah, it's a pretty terrible thing to think, but doesn't everyone have thoughts like that on occasion? As long as you don't say it, I don't think it makes you a bad person.

NGL, I agree. Not because I lack sympathy. If a person is genuinely suicidal I'll do my best to support them.

But a good hand-full on tumblr are just attention whores who are all 'no one smothers me with attention 24/7 my life is worthless'. I never egg them on, but internally rolling my eyes.

So what if the stories are not good?

Ever come to think the stories are not about or for you ?

Some people use fanfic as escapism or even catharsis or a way of dealing with their own issues/trauma. It's not like they're being paid for it. And maybe t will acually appeal to some people on an emotional level.

I'm sorry, but if you're faced with a person who uses something as a crutch or coping mechanism (and hey, it's actually working!) and all you an get out of it is "hay, the fic is sort of shitty' then you're missing the point, and frankly your priorities are sort of screwed up.

While you have every right to your "opinions" (however horrible and shitty they may be), I'm going to straight-up tell you that maybe some secrets should never be shared.

People have less than kind thoughts. It's a thing when you're a human being. The important thing is you didn't say it. Once it's out, you can't take it back. So as long as they stay in your head and you don't put it in a comment for the whole Internet to read, you're good.

And this is why I don't talk un-anon about my issues with suicidal ideation. Because then I look like I'm seeking attention, when I'm not. My brain's just broken.

I only WISH I could write totally crappy fic. I'd probably get more reviews. XD

Oh man, I can relate to this an embarrassing amount. I often have these kinds of vicious thoughts. Suicide and self-harm are pretty much an immediate eye-roll from me. I should really know better, because I'm depressed and often suicidal myself. A month ago yesterday, I actually wound up in hospital after an unsuccessful attempt. Sometimes I even have these kinds of thoughts about myself and my own coping mechanisms!

The important thing is keeping it to yourself. No harm, no foul.

There's something incredibly frustrating about dealing with somebody who has a mental illness, relies on shitty coping mechanisms to get by and refuses to try to get any kind of serious help. I can see how that frustration might manifest itself in the form of such unkind thoughts.
