When you think someone on the internet was being sarcastic, so you defend them in a flame war, except it turns out they were serious.

(Happened to me. The person who'd been offended - justifiably so - wouldn't believe me when I tried explaining I thought it was sarcasm. They were both idiots, honestly.)

For the longest time I assumed almost every idiot on the internet was being sarcastic or joking around.

You realize you've been arguing with someone's Mom or Dad on Facebook.

(Happened to me, and a friend's friend and her Dad hashed it out pretty good too. Not sure her friend realized it was her father.)

That awkward moment when you keep refreshing fandom!secrets, despite having zero interest in any of the secrets and nothing too exciting is on the general comments, either. and it's a friday night.

Your awkward moment happens so often to me it doesn't even feel awkward. It's just cartoons. Then there's the part where you age and anime characters don't, so I still have all these anime crushes that date back to when I was the same age as the character or younger.

Now, watching live action shows with kid characters I crushed on when I was their age... that's kind of awkward.

What about that awkward moment where you feel bad about your pedo anime crush, and then you find out they're canonically surprisingly old.

That awkward moment when you reply to a F!S thread, only to realize it's an older thread (a few hours) and no one really cares anymore....

That awkward moment when you try to silently poop in a public restroom, only to let out a massive fart with said poop. And you walk out of the stall and see a co-worker or someone else you know.

Hey, he's 100% fictional either way. Why feel guilty? I say embrace it; fantasy is fantasy.

That moment when you ship characters and then find out they're related (and have no interest in incest shipping).

Meh, he's fictional. I've had a crush on Edward Elric for several years and he's only 15 at the beginning.

Haha, I've had shows where I had crushes on them while I was that age. For example, Gundam Wing - pretty much all the 15-year-old pilots. Now I'm like, 25. But when I go back and watch it, I still get all, "aww, you're my boyfriend" over them.

It's long past the point of where I can read porn of them, granted. Just feels too dirty.

...you realize you left your next relationship in another country. And there's no foreseeable future in which we both end up in the same city for longer than a couple weeks at a time.
