I'm still stuck on how fs doesn't know nearly as much about pandas as it thinks it does.

What don't we know?

i know they're forever-alone dumbasses who eat the bear equivalent of celery sticks because they're too lazy to manage a balanced diet.

idk how accurate that is but there you go.

You should run zoo tours. And when you get to the panda enclosure, you should say exactly that.

You're closer than the people who commented last time the subject came up. I don't know why so many people think that 300lb bears with giant claws and teeth can't defend themselves.

Wait...when does FS talk about pandas?

There was an "unpopular opinions about animals" thread a while back and there were several people going on about how conservation shouldn't be so focused on pandas and some of the reasons they listed were just wrong and I'm being really nitpicky about this but zoology is my field.

That's cool that your field is zoology. What sort of work do you do, if you don't mind me asking?

I'm still trying to make it through school at this point. So really you have no reason to listen to me. I do read zoology studies in academic journals for fun though, in addition to the school stuff. I've been looking into internships at different animal sanctuaries because that's where I ultimately want to work.

Pfft, nah. If you're actively studying it, then you legitimately know more than most of us, and that's more than enough reason to listen to you.

Good luck locking in an internship! I hope you're able to live out that dream. It's not my field or my calling, but I try to support animal sanctuaries when I can. They're so important and do truly good work.

pandas
- have a diet so poor that embryo pandas aren't nourished in the womb for the longest time and so they get born as helpless gummy drops

- helpless naked gummy babies who proceed to scream at the slightest provocation and have to be carried in the mother's mouth when she climbs around the tree and doesn't leave them on the ground. but the panda mom has to eat because she's p much starving at this point

- male pandas don't care about their spawns and would probably eat them.
male pandas are forever alone guys as well who often can't get it up.

- female pandas have infrequent fertility periods and when they don't find a mate, get p often false pregnancies, which they spent needless energy on

- they once were omnivores and still have the digestive system of an omnivore, but they lost the ability to eat meat (missing enzymes?) and can't even digest most of the bamboo they eat

right?

Most of this is true but people exaggerate how much worse off pandas are than other species. Like the bit about male pandas not caring about the babies and sometimes eating them is true of so many animals.

I've never heard the bit about them not being able to eat meat. Every source I've seen says they still eat meat when they get a chance, usually rodents.

^what I've heard about pandas, and why they are useless.

Also, they are too lazy to even have sex. Zoo keepers have literally tried to show them panda porn to get them in the mood, but they don't like doing anything besides sitting on their asses eating their nutritionally sawdust bamboo.
