Uhhhh it was years and years back, there was this one dude in the Metal Gear slash fandom who was just sort of ... all around terrible and pretentious and shoving the fact that he was A MAN IN SLASH FANDOM in everyone's faces a lot. It culminated with him writing an educational essay on Snake/Otacon from the perspective of A MAN/MALES, posting it to the main community, and getting offended and defensive when everyone else on the community were like "wtf is this, what does you being male have to do with anything about the ship?"

So I posted my own parody essay using my super special penis powers (tm) describing my unique interpretation that all you women need to be informed of because you'd never think of it otherwise since you all think differently from men and we see the ship in a super special (penis) way, the community (including the other dudes) kind of exploded over it (in parody support, mostly), the guy flounced, I got banned.

No regrets really.

I was actually kind of an asshole. :(

I still don't really regret it, though. Most of the community had been a bit "why won't you ever learn anything" at him for weeks by then (his idea of breaking the mold!! of typical slash fangirls!! was writing fic that was standard weepy yaoi except Otacon tops ha ha! rekt!! take that, fangirls). IIRC the essay contained weird stuff about how all male gamers were nerds that didn't fit the expected macho stereotypes and something about emasculation then a random jab at radical feminism (?).

Yeah it was pretty bad.

I haven't quite achieved that level (though did get a pretty anticlimatic ban from Drowtale forums back in the day and everybody knew the REAL reason) but sometimes you gotta have a bit of asshole in you for an epic post. good on you.
