Which have you watched?
Baccano!, Panty and Stocking, YuYu Hakusho and Gokusen all had some fantastic dubs imo

Can't stand YYH dubbed... the Japanese version just has too many awesome voice actors.

The translation in the YYH dub is atrocious, though. Turning Itsuki into a creepy stalker with a crush? Hell no.

Eh, the original was way too dry tbh. I think the dub improved it in a lot of areas.

Changing things =/= improving. Adapting the script to make it sound more natural is perfectly fine. Changing characterization is never okay, you're giving the viewers a different show then. It's unfair and disloyal.

I didn't really think they made Itsuki into some sort of creepy stalker. It has been a while since I've seen the dub so I may not be remembering it correctly. And even if they did mess with his characterization, it doesn't take away from the things the dub did well or improved on.

I agree with this for the most part, I tend to watch any film in it's original language to try and stay as close to the original director's intent as possible.

I'm also a massive hypocrite cause I find some early 80s/90s shows that totally butcher the source material fascinating (Samurai Pizza Cats, and Robotech especially), though in the case of Robotech I do prefer the original shows that make it up).

I'm with you. I only made it about 10 eps into the original version. The dub's one of my favorite guilty pleasures.

I'll give you that, I was mostly referring to the voice cast.

But the original has Megumi Ogata, and Mayumi Tanaka.

It also has Nozomu Sasaki, Shigeru Chiba, Surgery Nakahara and Nobuyuki Hiyama. They are all awesome. While I do enjoy the sub, the dialogue is a bit dull. The dub is pretty good imo.

Kurama's english voice actor > Megumi to me. He fits the character so much nicer.

I always loved the Trigun dub. Granted it was the version I saw first which usually has nostalgia factored in, but I could never get through more than an episode or two in Japanese.

Agree so much with Yu Yu Hakusho! That has to be one of the very few instances I preferred the dub.

For me, a dub dies as soon as my favourite character has a VA I don't like. So no matter how good it otherwise was, Baccano is a no for me. I hate Luck's VA.
