Forget them both. Gimme Nakoma.

I literally came hear to say this, LOL

See, I don't like that he died either, but he and Pocahontas were just a plain bad match. He would have been a great husband for someone with a personality similar to his own.

ia.

(Anonymous) 2014-06-17 11:28 pm (UTC)(link)
Uh, he was a total dick. Okay, maybe, maybe not, but it's not like we actually knew anything about his personality except he hates fun and will run in to attack a guy that is harmlessly talking to his lady. Seriously, he was so unlikeable I'm glad we didn't have to endure him any longer than we already did.

Well, to give him credit, he did wait until they were fully making out before he started charging.

(Anonymous) 2014-06-17 11:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Haha oh yeah. Seems like a real keeper, that one.

(Anonymous) 2014-06-17 11:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Also, Thomas was much more likeable than both him and John Smith combined. And adorable. She should've gotten with him instead, or at least Nakoma should've gotten a piece of that.

OP

(Anonymous) 2014-06-18 04:33 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't think he was a dick. Presumptuous maybe, but he wasn't Gaston-like. He didn't push Pocahontas, he wanted to protect her from the strange foreign invaders with muskets (remember, these guys shot his friend. He had reasons to not like them). He flipped out when he saw the enemy making out with a woman he loved, but that isn't so much abuse as it is a (admittedly serious) lapse in judgement.

Really? He struck me as being kinda...controlling. and also a bit of a stick in the mud

(Anonymous) 2014-06-17 11:47 pm (UTC)(link)
The timing of this secret entertains me because just last week one of my friends and I were talking Disney movies and she was saying how she thought Kocoum was so much hotter than John Smith.

FRIEND, IS THAT YOU?

(Anonymous) 2014-06-18 12:02 am (UTC)(link)
I totally agree that Kocoum > John Smith (grumpy stoic dudes FTW). But I choose to be delusional and pretend Kocoum is still alive. AND I ship him hard with Thomas. (I think I have a weird thing for pairings where one half kills the other in canon. Sephiroth/Aerith FTW)

(Anonymous) 2014-06-18 12:54 am (UTC)(link)
Are you me? I've literally never met anyone else who shipped them as well before now!

(Anonymous) 2014-06-18 02:54 am (UTC)(link)
Oh man, have you visited disney-kink on LiveJournal? There is at least one other (very very enthusiastic) Thomas/Kocoum fan on there. I know because they posted like 20+ Thomas/Kocoum prompts, which were pretty spammy but FANTASTIC nevertheless. And several of them got really good fills.

OP

(Anonymous) 2014-06-18 04:41 pm (UTC)(link)
I can ship it. Especially if they take a moment to acknowledge how crummy their exes are.

"When I asked her to marry me she never gave me a straight answer!"

"He saved me from drowning but totally forgot the mouth-to-mouth part of the equation. Then he gave me crappy advice about how to shoot."

Kokoum and Thomas are a much better couple than John and Pocahontas. Kokoum has a protection kink, Thomas definitely needs protecting.

Thomas did nothing wrong.

(Anonymous) 2014-06-18 12:52 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, what the heck! Thomas killed Kokoum (sp?) when he was seconds away from murdering John Smith. He saved his friend/mentor's life, and they give him crap for it. Thomas is the worthiest man in the whole damn show.

(Anonymous) 2014-06-18 02:11 am (UTC)(link)
I don't think they were being entirely serious...

His death was sad and pointless in itself, but that was kind of why it actually had significance in the end - it was the final stone of miscommunication and culture clash that set the avalanche of "drums of war" going. I hated that he died too but I wouldn't wish they hadn't killed his character because it was a necessary plot point.

OP

(Anonymous) 2014-06-18 04:49 pm (UTC)(link)
As stated above, I understand WHY Disney wrote it they did, both plot-wise and character development-wise. It just sucks and I'm gonna be forever mad.

I've never understood this opinion. Kocoum has like, no personality. Even if he is hotter, he's a blank slate.

Now if we were talking about Nakoma.... yesss.

(Anonymous) 2014-06-18 07:54 am (UTC)(link)
I wished it'd gone differently for some delicious Kocoum/Thomas tbh

OP

(Anonymous) 2014-06-18 04:47 pm (UTC)(link)
We'll always have fanfic. But Thomas has to learn how to shoot.
