I refuse to buy the BSI season pass for more than like, $10. So I'm hoping it drops in price a bit more.

Already got Don't Starve for $4. We should all come back at the end of the month and share what we got.

I like this idea.

Hard Reset was like 3 bucks so I snapped it up.

Maybe you can borrow money from someone and then pay them back?

I thought about that but I don't like doing that.

I was really disappointed, but really, I'll get over it. And my amazing friend bought me a couple games for my birthday (early, since my birthday is next month). She bought me the two I really wanted. So then I went from D: to :D really quick haha. Everything else on my wishlist is stuff I wouldn't get around to playing for a long while anyway.

She is awesome. Steam is awesome. Games are awesome. I have a long backlog. I think I'm done worrying about the sale xD; may pick up a few cheap indie titles if they come out, but otherwise, I'll wait

Meh. I've basically boycotted Steam so the Steam Sales don't interest me.

Ooh, why?

Re: It has begun.

DA

Unless they surprise me, it will either be DRM issues or something about Greenlight or Early Access. Less popular options are how most PC games now have you install Steam to play them or something about Steam/Valve having a monopoly on PC gaming.

Oh no. I already have to many games to play this summer. I need not more temptation and distraction!

Oh, dear. This is my first Steam sale, so I probably shouldn't be asking this if I want to keep my wallet intact, but what the hell. Any recs for a gal that loves sci-fi/fantasy, RPGs and action games? At the moment I only have Oblivion and Skyrim.

Re: It has begun.

(Anonymous) 2014-06-20 04:59 am (UTC)(link)
Well sci-fi I'd definetly recommend either, though probably both, the original Deus Ex (if you don't mind the graphics) and Deus Ex: Human Revolution, both have their ups and downs but I like them equally. Though if you get Human Revolution get the Directors Cut as well, it shouldn't be too much, typical non-special sales have it go for $5. There's the legend of Grimrock for the way-back square tile based dungeon crawler with modern graphics that's pretty good. Both Mass Effect 1 and 2 for RPG and Action, respectively. A lot of other fantasy games like Dragon Age, The Witcher, and Dark Souls, though I haven't played much of the first two and Dark Souls is sorta an acquired taste. If you don't mind FPS's, E.Y.E. Divine Cybermancy is a rather interesting Action-RPG cyberpunk game. You can also get Morrowind when it's on sale and get the mods that use data files from Morrowind to put it into either Oblivion or Skyrim, but the Oblivion one is much more developed. Most of everything I mention will most likely be on sale on the front page at some point.

Dragon Age: Ultimate Edition is on sale for very cheap right now, and I can't recommend it enough. Same with Kingdoms of Amalur, and you can play the demo before you buy to see if it's up your alley.

I came so close to buying The Witcher 2, but I just bought and hated Soul Reaver on GOG. I thought "Is this likely to be a better game than Soul Reaver?" and I concluded that the answer was likely no, so I haven't bought anything so far.

Soul Reaver, like the classic Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver? I'm not impressed by The Witcher 2 in comparison to my favorite RPGs (too much gritty manly man bullshit), but it's leagues better than Soul Reaver in terms of graphics and gameplay. (And Soul Reaver's one of my favorite games, but it's pretty dated and plays like utter shit on the PC).

[personal profile] feotakahari 2014-06-20 06:04 am (UTC)(link)
Out of curiosity, what are your favorite RPGs?

And yes, it's Legacy of Kain. I had no earthly clue what I was doing--I was just bumbling my way through room after room, moving blocks here and impaling vampires there, without a clear goal in sight. Witcher 2 sounded like another game where I'd spend a lot of time fumbling about and trying to figure out how to not die, which I reserve for Dark Souls and The Binding of Isaac.

The Dragon Age series and Kingdoms of Amalur at the moment - they're pretty linear in nature, you have room to wander and get a little lost, but it's easy to find the main path again, unlike Soul Reaver. I remember it drove me crazy with its vagueness and endless backtracking ("go north", yeah, sure, I'll get right on that), but I had more time on my hands when I was a kid to appreciate the immersion. Now I want an arrow and big words popping up on the screen to tell me what's what. Witcher 2 has that, it's not "three guesses how you need to progress now and the first two get you killed" like Dark Souls.
