You didn't like How to Train...? O.O O_O

btw, I loved a lesser known The Count of Monte Cristo (1997), it's very nice.
ps: And I hope to see here some recs because I didn't like most of recent animated movies.

Not OP

I caught the first minutes of How to train your dragon on television and I wasn't impressed at all

(Anonymous) 2014-06-22 09:12 pm (UTC)(link)
I caught the first minute of Star Wars and I have no idea why a movie that's nothing but scrolling text would inspire so much fandom. Sheesh people are dumb.

(Anonymous) 2014-06-22 09:17 pm (UTC)(link)
I watched the whole of How To Train Your Dragon and I loved it up until the end, and then I hated that slimy piece of cop-out trash.

slimy piece of cop-out trash

you have issues.

(Anonymous) 2014-06-22 09:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Minutes, as in more than one. Also, the scrolling text in a New Hope tells a more interesting story than "man I suck at being a warrior and the great warrior princess won't notice ever! I wonder what will happen next!"

I admit that I'm hazy on the plot, but I loved the dragon and flying sequences. He's the cutest puppy-dragon ever. Good for you for dropping something yoi didn't like early on, though.)

Star Wars is a classic Hero's Journey, it ticks every box in the formula that's been used as long as there's been literature. It's as formula as they come. That doesn't stop it from being an enjoyable interesting movie, because moves are more than their formulas.

I watched the whole thing and I didn't like it, but maybe you should watch it all before making judgments.

Paranorman is really good.

(Anonymous) 2014-06-22 10:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I loved it.

(Anonymous) 2014-06-22 10:31 pm (UTC)(link)
I thought it was cute! I kind of also liked how they made Mitch(?) gay without making his whole character all about it. Like it was a one off line and it was said so wonderfully casually.

(Anonymous) 2014-06-22 10:36 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes, that was done perfectly. I also liked that none of the antagonists were two-dimensional (ha), they all had their own reasons for acting the way they did, forgivable or otherwise.

ty! I've heard about it before, but the graphics look so 3D... I'll add it to my watchlist, though. It seems to be well-known.

ParaNorman is stop-motion animation, and fucking amazing just from a technical standpoint.

[personal profile] solticisekf 2014-06-22 10:39 pm (UTC)(link)
Huh, two votes for it already. Gotta see it.

It was marred by really unfunny, childish comedy bits though.

(Anonymous) 2014-06-23 02:53 am (UTC)(link)
In your opinion.

I just think it's best to know that going in, lest you roll your eyes every 5 minutes. Do you remember the trailer and how awful it was? Those shitty jokes had to come from somewhere.

People are allowed to like and dislike different things! It's okay!

I watched HTTYD and was not overwhelmed (shocking, I know). Out of all the movies listed, I think it is actually more on the side of "fluff". It's got a well-animated, cute dragon.
idk, that one is actually very much a children's movie, imo.
