"I could give a lesser shit"

what an odd way to phrase that...

(Anonymous) 2014-07-01 12:00 am (UTC)(link)
Maybe English isn't OP's first language.

I dunno, I sort of find it interesting they're not perfect parents or people. Which, I think, given who they are would realistically be difficult.

I've read this about ten times and I don't understand what's being said.

(Anonymous) 2014-06-30 11:39 pm (UTC)(link)
Are they saying that if Sokka wasn't there to help raise their children, they don't care at all if Tokka is proven canon?

[personal profile] solticisekf 2014-07-01 01:56 am (UTC)(link)
That what I thought.

(Anonymous) 2014-06-30 11:47 pm (UTC)(link)
Me neither. I think they're pro-Toph/Sokka?

So you... specifically want Sokka to be a bad dad and then you are okay with it?

... Why this odd criteria?
intrigueing: (ten's sentient hair)

I don't understand what you're trying to say.

(Anonymous) 2014-07-01 12:18 am (UTC)(link)
So you don't want Sokka to be around any family he might of had, or do you just care that he didn't raise Lin?
TBH I'm all for single mom Toph, it just feels right.

(Anonymous) 2014-07-01 12:27 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah. But I'm still dying to know who she boned.

Is the assumption in fandom that because Lin has the same last name as Toph, then she must have been raised without a father? Why couldn't Lin's parents have decided she should take her mother's name? (Or Lin decided herself as an adult).

Do we know that the Earth Nation is patrilineal and not matrilineal or ambilineal?

Enlighten us with your explanation, oh-so-intelligent anon (who may or may not also be OP)

It's less that the general message of the secret is undiscernible but more that the message is so fucking retarded that surely there must be a misunderstanding.

(Anonymous) 2014-07-01 01:58 am (UTC)(link)
dude, in the other comment someone asked them whether they meant one thing or the other, and OPs answer was "yeah". They don't communicate very clearly

Hi OP

I really hope Toph and Sokka isn't canon, simply because I loved Sokka and Suki too much to want to see them broken up. Besides, Toph's crush seemed totally one-sided to me. Sokka thought of Toph as another little sister.

(Anonymous) 2014-07-01 01:56 am (UTC)(link)
Ditto. In the midst of all the Zutara/Kataang shipping wars, Sokka/Suki was a haven of relative peace, and as such the only pairing I cared about.

Personally I wouldn't care if they never specified the father. Maybe Toph just had a miraculous conception - I wouldn't put it past her.

MTE.

[personal profile] solticisekf 2014-07-01 01:59 am (UTC)(link)
I agree in there being no point making a pairing cannon without showing any of it. Kinda poinless. Moreover it makes other pairing not canon, which is plain rude.
Maybe they'll show at least flashbacks, OP.

I honestly don't know why you would wish it on Sokka not being involved in raising his family :(. The guy grew up without a mother and then had to be separated from his father for a lot of time, and it showed that it was really hard on him - I'm sure not being able to be around to raise his kids would be absolute torment for him! As I love Sokka (and Toph but not necessarily together), that idea really makes me sad. So whatever the deal is with Toph and her daughter, I hope that's not the case!

(Disclaimer: I didn't watch Korra yet.)

(Anonymous) 2014-07-01 06:47 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I can pretty much only picture Sokka loving being a dad. He would be the progenitor of Dad jokes.
