There's no evidence that they did anything to the cat. In fact, the only person who could hold any blame right now is the owner of the cat, for not keeping it safe. At the same time, don't fucking accuse the owner for not keeping the cat safe. They know they fucked up, and they've lost their pet. Stay out of it.
