(Anonymous) 2014-07-05 08:02 pm (UTC)(link)Then again, I've run across fic writers who suddenly start writing the dialog (and only the dialog) in a different language half way through a fic and not include a translation. So logic doesn't always factor in.

*shrug* Makes no sense to me.

(Anonymous) 2014-07-05 09:53 pm (UTC)(link)If they speak Spanish they can read the Spanish summary and decide, there's no need to add the English version because the intended audience it's not English speakers (native or not) but Spanish speakers (native or not).

If somebody doesn't speak the language but likes the summary, they can put it into google translate, which a lot of ESL have to do anyway when starting out in fandom (dict.cc as English dictionary is still my most used website years after).
Even native readers might give it more of a chance- to me fanfic in my native tongue sounds stilted and weird. I have a much higher standard for it than for English fic, which is why I never intentionally check out fic in my language anymore.
And people who only look for a certain language can still find it through the tags, or wouldn't look for it on a mostly English fic hosting site anyway.
However my first thought was that it's a small gesture of "well, here's what you could have, but it's NOT primarily for you THIS time. hah."
Although I doubt most people think like that I can see the appeal :P

(Anonymous) 2014-07-06 03:53 am (UTC)(link)A Chorus Line (there are couples in it but any "romance" is minimal and none of the songs are really about the love between a couple)
Godspell
Hedwig and the Angry Inch (references to romance but the romance doesn't happen on-stage)
The Secret Garden (references to past romance and there's a romantic song with a ghost)
9 to 5 (this is pretty much the opposite of romance as it's about women expressing themselves in a male-dominated society)
