Gwen from Torchwood. I didn't love her (I didn't really love any of the Torchwood characters tbh) but I thought she was an interesting and fucked up character who was ultimately a good person even if she made a lot of mistakes. Most of fandom (especially the Janto shippers) thought she was Satan though and it was often difficult to find fics that didn't bash the hell out of her (even if I didn't like Gwen, I would still hate those fics because I dislike character bashing regardless of how I feel about the character in question.)

This. I tend to stay out of most Torchwood fic because more often than not, there will be Gwen bashing.

Gwen, the main character Gwen? If I recall the names right? Well, if it's for shipping purposes I get why she was "hated" but I always liked her well enough. I don't think she was as interested as the other Season 1-2 Torchwood members but she was cool. I didn't necessarily like her with Jack, but I like how there was sexual attraction that they never really did anything with, made it interesting.

Some people hate on her because of the shipping, some people hate on her because of the whole 'cheating on Rhys with Owen in S1' mess.

Re: Cheating with Owen, I always felt it was how she responded to the things she had to deal with because of Torchwood. Rhys couldn't know, so she turned to someone who did for sexual comfort. Owen just... well, he was Owen.
